And the worse thing of all is that we've been linked to him in the past.. I wouldn't have him anywhere near our reserves let alone our first team squad!

Exactly the type of player I've faced, broke my leg 2 years ago, and near the end of last season we faced that team again and it was my first time playing, I could tell they were nervous around me as none of the were going in on me at all, but the guy that did it is a complete prick and as you say kept trying to get my achilles, luckily one of my mates noticed and clattered the guy :)

I've had that but in rugby, I did the lads cruciates in a tackle as he landed awkwardly.
It was a local derby like as we were playing Darlo and I played for Houghton at the time.
When he had recovered and the next time they played us at a tournament we used to put on once a year (think it was either the Feast or Festival if you're reading GRB I always get confused between the two), he spear tackled me straight away and I landed on my neck.
I had to come off for a few minutes, but at the next chance my mate nailed him in the tackle and as the refs back was turned my other mate ran up the lads back before booting him in the head.
Needless to say I think the lad learned his lesson <laugh>.

We weren't dirty players, but we would get people back if they were dirty to us.
The lad's cruciate was accidental I was playing out of position at full back due to injuries, last man back and I tackled him & brought him over my left leg, he ended up landing awkwardly and twisted his leg (didn't know how bad it was at the time).
I even tried to personally apologise to him, which I'd thought he'd accepted as he seemed ok & the ethos of rugby is normally always leave it on the pitch (I'd had a similar horror cruciate injury in year 9 and I accepted it for it was), but he obviously hadn't got over it.
My mates were just watching my back as I could have snapped my neck the way I'd landed.
I'm sure if I ever came out of retirement myself and I played you, it would be fine <cheers>
