That Demba Ba that scored 7 in 12 for one of the worst teams in PL history, and the same one that's scored 14 in 17 so far this season? Also agree that people need to realise there are other leagues, just like the Bundesliga that Demba Ba also ripped apart at will...
I'm not policing anything or anyone. I was merely making the point that this was certain people's modus operandi when someone disagrees with them.
It seems that the plastic fans are getting a little bit too impatient again. Liverpool FC don't have a devine right to be in the top 4, however it must also be noted that we've lost some serious points from the draws at home against the lesser teams. This loss of points has been balanced by a good away points tally though. All in all, Liverpool are doing ok overall and are still in with a chance of gaining a top 4 place. But it takes patience... some players need time to gel. Maybe some players will never be good enough, but only time will tell... and "time" doesn't equate to a few games. Be patient with Carroll and Downing and trust Kenny to sort out any problems... it's his job after all. OUR job is to support him. If we don't offer him our support, then we're not really true Liverpool fans are we? To the plastic fans I say this: maybe it's time to move on to Manchester City if you seek immediate success? Just a thought.
Good post, we have to give Kenny time. I think that the expectation of instant success is to do with who he is but at the end of the day he is human. We can question and talk about the signings but at the end of the day it is a much better squad than it was before Kenny arrived.
Talking a lot of sense! People have to bear in mind that we are where we are despite having loads of players bedding in, and despite the fact certain players aren't clicking yet. Downing will have few spells as barren of goals and assists in his entire career as he has now, so when that changes that is more points on the board. When Carroll finds his feet that will be more points. When some of the other guys start finishing their chances that's yet more points on the board. People will find that with so many new players then that is a lot of players that not only need to settle themselves but also will continue to improve their understanding with all their teammates. Goals and things like that will have a knock-on effect on confidence and teamwork which will in turn have their own effect on how many we score. With 1 or 2 nice January signings we will have some great performances as the season wears on.
I will stand by what I said last month and will say it again, 5th wouldn't be a disaster and I believe we will finish on more points than last season and a total tally that would normally see us get top 4. I wasn't old enough to understand when we last won the league and my whole life we have been mostly finishing outside the champions league places (albeit it wasn't that long ago when it was the top 2 teams), nevertheless we have always been fighting for something until the Hodgeson era. I am just glad we are fighting for something again, whether it be for the CC or top 4...as long as we fight till the end I am happy. As I said in another post, Kenny shouldn't be immune to criticism, but to call for his head in the current circumstances is ridiculous. I would rather see him retire than see the fans turn their back on him.
Good point well made.. Whilst Spurs didn't spend that much this year, they have spent a fair bit over the past 3+ seasons and its paying dividends now, they look like a team ready to challenge, we’re not there yet, not far off but not there yet. Gotta give the management team time to put all the pieces together, I’m as miffed as the next LFC fan with our recent results but I’m not too upset with our play (well apart from the Spurs game and the second half against Wigan when we gifted the possession away), most games we’ve created a bag full of chances, and could/should have won the vast majority of our home games but due to poor finishing/blinding goalkeeping/Moon being aligned with Saturn or some cosmic power, we’ve not got the results our play has “deserved” A bit of luck, a bit better finishing, a fit and firing Stevie G back and maybe the odd purchase of a striker in Jan and we’ll do OK. So calm down, finish off that Turkey, return your Christmas presents, spend a bucket load on c**p at the sale you don’t need and enjoy the football and “support” your team!
Plastic, eh? Oh, aye...here we go again. Look, chicken, if we didn't give a **** about our team we wouldn't get wound up. You sit there like a lemon and wait if you like. That's your perog. Some of us have been waiting for TWENTY ****IN' YEARS! And Kenny knows it, which is why I'm still supporting him. I never said I wasn't. All I've been saying is we have problems, we need to sort them out. And if you say different you want to get your eyes testing!
I ****ing love the fact that whenever anybody has a problem with something they always come back to United. We must ruin your lives.
There's different types of getting wound up. There's the Steven Gerrard windmill arms in Istanbul type getting wound up, but then there's also the Joey Barton cigar in the eye type of getting wound up. Just because we're not getting menstrual over the situation doesn't mean we aren't incredibly passionate, nor does it mean we're sheep. What it does mean is that we've also waited 20 years, and are enjoying the progress we've made at every level of the club and maybe yes we can bear to wait just a little longer and enjoy the ride in the mean time. The club has been sliding for a few years but there's plenty there to show we've reversed that trend, though one of the side effects seems to be a section of fans who crave something to be frustrated about and when they are challenged back, they get on their high horse about 'being entitled to an opinion' and not 'blindly following'. We are fans, which derives from fanatics, so by definition we're meant to show incredible loyalty and devotion. This isn't like getting a refund on your Christmas gifts. Matchdays would be a lot better if people 'blindly' supported that's for sure. By all means have you opinion, but don't be surprised if you get stick for pathetic panic articles saying 6th place is the best we could possibly hope for when that clearly isn't the case.
On current form 6th is the best we can hope for ON CURRENT FORM AND JUDGING BY RECENT RESULTS. All I'm trying to do is to state it as it is right now. I hope I'm proved wrong in May, but if not you'll be reminded of it, not necessarily by me. In the meanwhile I'll do as you suggest, sit in a corner sucking my thumb and hoping and praying Doctor Who will be able to sort it.
