you laid the annual trap England being playing at an impressive level for a while. Today only a blip. Ireland and Wales are two teams who don’t know what/where they are at the moment. Both transitioning nowhere fast. Both coaches could well be under pressure by the time the 6 nations is over. It might be a decent match but........
All good Col Stayed away from the site while all the Brexit **** was being discussed as I found most of it to be Nauseating, repetitive and one sided. Unfortunately the site has veered away from its original concept. There’s too many off topic posts here now most of which only facilitate the same muppets throwing muck at each other. Brixton wouldn’t have been best pleased. Great to see a bit of form back. Reckon 4-5 more wins sees us safe and anything more than that pushes us upwards towards respectability Oh, and the irony of me saying that on an ‘off topic’ post is not lost on me
Have to say I don’t see Farrell as a coach of a big national team, but what do I know? Both he and Pivac have really tough acts to follow.
yea, a really nice man but originally made his name as a defensive coach. As much if not more of a league man. Ireland still have some very good players and the Leinster academy is still producing great young talent but Ireland playing a boring and predictable system.
I think the French will have come away from this weekend quietly confident, Italy are no barometer of their form but England's performance must give them a boost. I still think England will be the team to beat but yesterday was dire...
The Scots must fancy their chances after yesterday's comprehensive victory. Only Wales and Ireland to beat and they have the Triple Crown.
It would be nice to see them challenging after so many years out of it. In reality they should have thrashed England yesterday rather than still have been in touching distance at the end. I don't think Eddie will want to see another performance like that so Italy could be in trouble next week...
Ireland well worth their lead. You'd have thought it was them with an extra man and not Wales. Their main problem will be tiredness I suppose as they're much the better side.
Sexton off with a head injury. How many has this bloke (and George North) had? Looked it up, Sexton at least 4, North 6. These are the officially designated concussions, the ones they have to go through a protocol for before playing again, not the many other head injuries that they play through (like any other player). Both have had to take extend (months) breaks from the game on medical advice. Their choice I suppose, and Sexton is vociferous about being ‘stigmatised’ as ‘prone to head injuries’. Let’s hope they don’t regret their choices later in life, like Alix Popham and Steve Thompson, who were playing in times when there was much less focus on this stuff. I love a full blooded game of rugby, but I think its going to have to change a lot at all levels, or some massive insurance system paid for by players and clubs (including amateur and kids) is going to be required. Well done Wales.
Sexton has to have had considerably more than that. A superb player for nearly a decade but sadly well past his best. Still number one in that position for Ireland due to injuries to other players and not trusting the next generation. Think he’ll make a good pundit too but just wish somebody would make the hard decision for him.
Two poor teams TBH. Little creativity or class on show today. Wales just had to be patient and wear Ireland down minute by minute which is what they did.
Absolutely. This is not a game where a great player can change position, like Matthäus, or style, like Pirlo, and keep going for ages. I shudder when I see his name, and North’s, on the team sheet. And they are just the most high profile ones.
