Bit much isn't it?

According to brb site banned for stepping outside GC...but his confinement to GC was lifted on Nov 5th 2013 (I checked the date on the sticky on this very board ;))...so from that day forward he could post anywhere that he wished to.

So how can he now be site banned for stepping outside GC??

It really does beggar belief, I trust you budgies are arranging the protests as I type.
 
Site ban pffft means feck all just rereg using different email & you're away.

Tbh bans are bloody pointless because if you just moderate them at least you know who they are, force them to rereg with different accounts you're then playing catch up to who is who.

And yes I know all about ip addresses & for 99% of us that's pointless too because all you need to do is force a resync and odds are you'll get a new ip address anyway (there's the 1% on static addresses)
 
Welly, I am assuming his confinement to GC was re-activated by someone, I have no idea who, but gandy asked me if he'd been banned because he had not posted in ages. I told gandy I didn't know and suggested that he ask Maestro as he is now a supermod, after that I don't know what, if anything, passed between them!

SN23 then appeared on the forum under the name of "Nathan Barkley!" This is against the forum rules and ALWAYS deceives a site ban if and when discovered!

Nice view you had from the Roker Hotel...My family live just around the corner from it...As you well know, the Sunderland lot are a very hospitable bunch. Especially with folks and teams like Norwich..

It was pretty obvious Nathan Barley was he, though I couldn't understand if he'd just set up a new account why it had more than 800 posts - had he been using that account for a while?

Yes, he can be annoying and by his own admission I'm sure he'd say he can be a right prat as well, but I for one mostly enjoyed his banter, he certainly doesn't take life very seriously and sometimes I think we need a bit of that on here. Shame if he has been banned from the site, bit OTT and unneccessary that if you ask me, I personally hope that's not him gone for good.

I agree with most of that Munky, he was a bit Jeckel and Hyde, totally stupid when drinking and lots of genuine humour when sober.

However, by using another account to post on a forum from which he was banned is strictly against forum rules and usually restricts any form of clemency, so we've seen the last of him for the foreseeable future, under either of those two usernames anyway!

Joking aside... other than the slightly silly thread where he mostly just embarrassed himself, he doesn't do anything particularly wrong on the Norwich board and generally contributes a lot. He's obviously upset those "on high" quite a lot, so it possible to ban him from everywhere on the site except for the Norwich board? Then on the odd occasion he lets himself go here, the Norwich mods can give him small suspensions if they see fit...

Not possible Rob, something similar was requested on another board a while back and involving a different poster and it developed into a huge fall-out between different parties and ended with a lot of permanent problems between those involved. So no, that avenue is, in fact, a cul-de-sac

Who exactly is giving Dave a hard time? Just a bit of drunken bollux from SN as far as I can see? (Dave knows he is my favourite Sunderland-supporting mod! :emoticon-0136-giggl ) Nobody else sad much as far as I can see.

I did pm Dave and then Maestro a while back, but only to ask if SN had been banned as I hadn't seen him post for a while and didn't want to lose touch. Kev did hint at a valid reason for a ban, which had nothing to do with what went on on this board.That's another matter.

Otherwise, all a bit petty if you ask me, will certainly be duller without him. <ok>

It would be time-consuming, but surely it's just a case of going through each forum one-by-one and restricting his access (like when you get a ban from, say, the QPR forum). Annoying, I suppose, but surely not a cul-de-sac?

A very definite cul-de-sac Rob, those involved were told in no uncertain terms that that was a big no no. The only forum that an individual can be restricted to is GC <ok>
 
Any steps taken by the mods/admins to keep the 'General Chat Brain Trust' off of the Norwich board have my full backing.
 
In general I felt he was a good laugh and a relatively well informed Norwich fan and could have a good discussion when he wanted.

However he had appeared to be in a bit of a tail spin after the Sunderland game. If you follow the link he posted to their board he's on the thread later on just throwing out unsolicited abuse. The forum will be more sensible without him, I'm not sure that's a positive but I get why this has happened.
 
Anyone moaning about Dave or the other mods needs to remember the original 606 site - you only had to fart to get banned on there!!
