I have just found a way to analyse the day's runners by sire's going preference. Can't do dam or dam sire but could be a useful starting point

For example, I can list all horses running today where the sire has a certain success rate on the prevailing going (eg better than X%). It is only a starting point because it is just an indicator and the horses need to have shown form on the prevailing going and of course be in with a chance. Conversely I can list horses whose sire does not perform well on particular ground conditions.

Have to go out now to see to the horses. If anyone is interested I'll print off some reports later

I had to strip out the "(IRE)" etc as the sires' list didn't contain that info and caused a lot of mismatches. It was a bit worrying that the sires' list had High Chaparral with only one "r". The data for the sires was as at Feb 2013. Unfortunately for this to be worthwhile that data needs to be more up to date. Having run a query I discovered that at Leicester alone there were 44 runners whose sires don't match the sires list that was available; that is too many no matches for my liking.

The analysis for tomorrow's Nottingham Card shows there are 56 runners with no sire details and 12 runners with heavy Going rate >15%. One that stands out is Laurence in the 1.40, sired by Dubawi who has a stunning 56% rate on heavy going. The other one thrown up in that race is China Club by Shamardal who has a 22% rate

However there are 6 in the race for which the sire details are not available:
Horse/Sire
Ashapurna(IRE) Tamayuz
Hope You Dance(FR) Mastercraftsman
Layerthorpe(IRE) Vale Of York
New Strategy(IRE) Lawman
She Is No Lady Lope De Vega
Waaleef Nayef

In a race with only 10 runners it is clear that this analysis will be next to useless. If the database of sires' going preferences had been up to date it may have been useful.

Sorry if I raised any hopes.
