In anticipation of tonight I thought I'd repost this closing paragraph from Greg Wood's Guardian article, written just before the Champion Stakes in 2012:

"One day, far in the future, after all those who will watch his final race at Ascot are gone, a horse may win a Classic at Epsom, or maybe at Newmarket, and someone in the grandstand will trace through its pedigree, come upon the name of Frankel and think to themselves: 'Ah, the mighty Frankel. Now there's a horse I'd have loved to see racing.'

Looking forward to this after seeing it advertised last weekend. Will sky+ it and hopefully watch it later in the night or tomorrow morning.
 
It inspired me to look out some of my prized possessions. I really should get them framed.

I never knew this about him Dexter. I've only been into horse racing since around 2008 and it's not something I was aware of as he's portrayed as a modern day Saint. There's no excuse for drink driving in my opinion. I will look forward to watching the documentary however because of my interest in the horse rather than the trainer
 
That's only the half of it smokethedeadbadger, I noticed they didn't go into to much detail about him taking advantage of vulnerable young women.

The whole programme was cringeworthy and abit of a farce to be honest. A sob story about a guy born with a silver spoon in his mouth, struggling along in his 15 bedroom mansion, and living to be a pensioner. What a tough life he had <doh>

He was a great trainer however, that is one good thing that I will say about the man!:biggrin:

Yes, PNkt, get as much framed as you can, it is well worth it for you. My daughter is quite clever with graphics and whatnot, and made me a smashing reproduction of the one of Frankel with his longtime stable lad, just after they had both arrived at Frankel's new home, Banstead Manor Stud, after his retirement from racing. Had it framed straight away. I have been so lucky to have actually seen some great horses in my life, considering my time was so limited (due work commitments, and a long sojourn in Canada) to follow horseracing in the U.K. Only saw Frankel on TV, but that was enought for me. I count myself lucky in that respect. Had I been able to be at any of his victories, I would have been cheering Frankel, Sir Henry, and Prince Khalid Abdullah, as loudly as anyone else there.
 
Well I have just finished watching this. Best documentary I have seen for a long long time; \Bits of it really gave me goosebumps. A real insight to a great trainers life, some of it I never knew; I shall be keeping this on my Sky planner for a long time
 
There have been many great memories in racing, we all have them. Truly though, surely everyone recalls that heart warming day at Wolverhampton in March 2010 when the magnificent Desperate Dan, so wonderfully ridden by that champion hoop Neil Callan, disposed of the ever honest Ingleby Star with Jimmy Quinn aboard. I know full well that when the time eventually comes for me to lie in repose upon my cosy, death bed, thoughts of past blow jobs and football games will usher me with much joy into the after life. And from somewhere in those last foggy memories of a well lived life, there will emerge the warm, glowing thoughts of the heroic Desperate Dan sweeping down the centre of the track on his way to a glorious victory.

Great programme, I feel blessed to have being at York that day. We will never see one as good as Frankel and when I'm older I will be boring the younger generations with that
 
What makes me laugh is that Ryan Giggs Britains most succesful footballer was denied a knighthood, because of the antics that have gone on in his personal life. Yet Henry Cecil got one. And whilst what Giggs did was immoral, he never broke any laws :biggrin:
