I wonder what Sir David Murray is doing right now and what his thinks of the goings on down Govan way ?

I am a Celtic fan and i can't believe that Whyte bought the club without knowing all of the impending tax implications. The only new revelation is the Bain court case, which was a result of Whyte firing him..........so Whyte must have seen that coming.

So what i don't understand is why the whole Rangers thing is being so badly managed as nothing new has popped up. I am not here to take the p*ss, so decent responses would be appreciated.
 
I'm sure Murray is at home, working on his existing businesses and overseeing the autumn grape harvest.

Whyte took over knowing there's a chance Rangers could go bust if HMRC are successful and he will have put in place a plan so, if the worse comes to worst, he will walk away without being out of pocket.

Macari goes ahead with case against Celtic FC

CELTIC Football Club and its former manager, Lou Macari, will contest a near million pound court case starting in Edinburgh tomorrow.
The Celtic chairman, Fergus McCann, and his board face a claim for 431,000 for alleged breach of contract from Macari, a former Celtic player, who was sacked in June 1994.

Surely he seen that coming:laugh::laugh:

Celtic chairman sacks Macari
Rangers chairman sacks Bain

Macari claims breach of contract
Bain claims breach of contract

Macari sues Celtic
Bain sues Rangers

Macari goes to court over 1 million (£)
Bain goes to court over 1.3 million (£)


Both scenarios are played out over the newspapers / media.

Celtic sued Macari back
Dunno if Rangers will countersue Bain

Rangers assets were frozen to protect Bain's money
Nothing happened to Celtic to protect Macari's money

Bain dealt with dealings at the very top of the club and knew much more about Rangers financial liability than even rank and file employees - he thinks they'll go insolvent
Macari was a pish manager and never suggested Celtic would be unable to pay him.


Oh, I see - both people sued a football club.

They must be exactly the same situation, then, now that I've "engaged my brain".<doh>

You posted that at 12pm yesterday so imagine he was eating his lunch. I would guess and say a cheese & ham toastie and a cup of tea, 2 sugars.

Thanks for clearing that up. Looking at your profile pic and your username I was struggling a bit. Whyte knew about the tax implications, well the bigger one. The smaller £2.8m came out of the woodwork after he tookover and it was HIS people that went to HMRC and highlighted this discrepancy. Staff usually get paid off when their contract is torn up, Whyte thought that it was ludicrous to pay off a man that was part of the old system that incurred so much debt.

Badly managed? We have an ongoing taxcase, that has been about for quite some time. The smaller taxcase again has been about since the summer and although Whyte will pay it, he was supposedly unwilling to pay interest on this ammount. As for Bain, well some could argue he is entitled to a pay off. I would disagree, he was one of Murrays top men so he must have knew quite a bit about what was going on, including the surprise tax bill Whyte got in the summer. He obviously has the clubs best interests at heart if he's ring-fencing an ammount of cash for a pay off, hope he goes through with the courtcase and loses.
