did you have to say that, don't you realise that QPR have lots of Irish/scots fans, it's like me saying that so and so is an English tosser.
He and his team kept Abramovitch from achieving his goal of winning the Champions League with the scum and if that's not a good enough reason for a knighthood I don't know what is.
It doesn't matter whether you like him or not, Fergie's is obviously the Guvnor as far as I'm concerned. He is the best club manager weâve ever seen in this Country, no argument. Nobody in club football has even come close to winning as many honours as him, Busby, Shankly and Clough included. We all have favourites in terms of players and managers, but the 48 trophies he has won as a manger simply cannot be argued with. Don't forget, United hadn't won the title for 26 years before he came. Also, itâs easy to look at Scottish football, with the perpetual tedious domination of the Old Firm, and forget that he won the league up there 3 times. With Aberdeen! Not to mention the UEFA Cup, European Super Cup and 5 domestic cups. And with United heâs won 12 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 2 Champions Leagues, 1 European Cup Winner Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 FIFA Club World Cupâ¦.. For f*cks sake, if that doesnât get the guy respect then I donât know what does! .. Having said that, I think that United should sack him immediately.
True Hoopton. But he's still the best manager there is for me (Sir Neil aside, obviously). Edit: Name-wise it was time to let go and move on...
Tommy_V I think you are forgetting that he hasn't spent more than 17 million on any of those players, how much are they worth now??? Yes that is a large amount for a player, but I'm talking about the amount that people are buying players from United. 50 million for Ronaldo, that would pretty much pay for the entire United team now when you consider that half there team is home grown. How many teams can boast statistics like that.
I meant no offense to our Celtic brothers, but he is a annoying scottish pisshead, just saying what I see.
I for one hope man city win the title. Nothing against SAF but boy am I sick of man u. Need a change at the top. Arsenal are gone, chelsea are next, it's only man u trying to turn this league into the SPL.
I think this needs to be put into perspective, Fergie has been incredibly lucky as a manager. Go back to his early years and there were so many exceptionally poor performances in his first 5 or 6 years in charge. These days, with results meaning everything, there is no doubt he would've been sacked inside two years. Our visit to Old Trafford on New Years Day 1992 was probably one of the last really below par performances they put in during that period and United blew a lead at the top to let Leeds win that title. There then followed the emergence of the youth team that became the backbone of United for the best part of ten years, Giggs, Beckham, the Nevilles, Scholes etc all coming through at roughly the same time and bringing that almost telepathic teamwork that made them such a fantastic unit, no amount of money could buy that. Fergie benefited from that and has never looked back. As pointed out, some of his signings have been absolute pants, none more so than Bebe who was absolutely £9 millions worth of shyte. But then again Fergie had the right team at the right time for the emergence of the Premier League and the Champions League in the early to mid 90s and all the riches that have poured in from that and also Old Trafford has expanded to add to their wealth enabling him to buy any player that takes his fancy. Yes, he's bought some good players and one or two great players but they would have been great players in any other top European team. I've always liked the way he has handled young players, ensuring they are not overplayed or burnt out too quickly and for all his gruff exterior he is a very giving person in his charitable work that most people don't hear about. All in all Man Utd were rewarded for their loyalty to him in those early years and the empire he has built as a result will show in the record books that he will set winning records that are unlikely to be surpassed by any other manager. I believe there are better managers that just haven't had the combination of factors that Fergie has been lucky enough to profit from but he has earned his success and beaten off all challengers to date, that makes him No.1 regardless.
Lone - Ferguson spent £30m on Rooney. On the above, I think you are being asked to justify 'scottish' as a term of abuse. Why is a Scottish pisshead worse than a pisshead in your opinion? If it's not why include the word Scottish at all?
I absolutely love him! It's just brilliant the way he has ripped Liverpool off their throne. But i remember hating him quite intensely when we last where a Premier League team so i reckon it won't be long until that relationship is restored
don't you get it... it is offensive !! how do you even know he is a pisshead ? If you had been talking about Clough would you have said he is an English pisshead ?? No I don't think so... cos there is no need to mention a nationality.
Well Lonetranger I think that you forgot that he paid more than 17 million for Ferdinand, Berbatov & Rooney cost him more than 17 million didn't he? As for the argument that he is the greastest club manager, if some of the other mentioned managers had the same length of time, at the same club, during the same era with the amount of money that he has had at his disposal could they not have acheieved the same success. I noticed that after each european cup/champions league win by united (managed by scottish born managers) each got a knighthood and yet the same honour was never bestowed on Either Brian Clough or Bob Paisley strange that two of the greatest English Managers that led thier respective teams to European triumph>
Every manager has had flops over the years. Even Clough failed with Stan Bowles, Wenger with Reyes, Holloway with Brett Angell etc etc Paladini survived lumbering us with Pellicori and putting Agyemang on a 4 1/2 year contract. I think Ferguson has been superb for the game, has never been afraid to give British youth a chance unlike some and, at 70 odd and still going strong, is an inspiration to us all, even if he can be a twat.
Clearly Sir Alex Ferguson is a brilliant manager, but... what annoys me most about him is his insistence that Manchester United are picked on by the authorities. What complete and utter bollocks. If any other manager said some of the things that he does they would have the book thrown at them. Openly accusing referees of cheating, it is ridiculous that they let him get away with it. Only recently he was saying that the F.A. should appreciate Man Utd more as they supply so many players to the England team, but they treat Utd like ****. How pathetic! This was based on him getting in trouble for ridiculous statements about the ref in their game against Chelsea and Rooney for getting into trouble for clearly and deliberately screaming obscenities down a TV camera. Neither punishment was sufficient. If I could have one job in the world, it would be head of the Premier League, and I would stamp down on him as soon as he stepped out of line. He is no bigger than the sport.
