SL didn't make his money by being a poor businessman. He may have sunk his money into a bottomless pit at AG, but his major opportunity was most likely the development of Ashton Vale and the profit in that enterprise for him. Had the World Cup bid been successful, it is more than likely that the planning application would have been allowed almost automatically, ignoring all the objections.

It cannot go unnoticed that Rovers and Bristol Rugby have been hand in glove for years. By buying into the rugby club SL will probably have a finger in the pie of the financies for the UWE development.

He is an entrepeneur and can sniff where money can be made.

Yes this is true, he can sniff out a money deal which is why he bought the egg chasers, AG or AV will soon have a crowd in on both weekends watching one of the sports. He probably saw that Swansea, Reading, and you lot all make money every weekend and he wants a bit of that. That way he gets revenue on a ground that apart from 24 plus a FEW cup games and I use that term very lightly at the moment.
This is what I have asked in a previous note, has anyone taken into the fact that when you get your approval to start spending money building the ground, to finance the build you have to pay for it whilst it takes 18 months to two years to complete. Without the revenue from the egg chasers the season after this next one and low gates at the mem could put considerable strain on as you have already pointed out not a rich club.

I hope you get the ground but not go bankrupt in the process. You and I mean you fans will have to ensure this don't happen by paying at the turnstiles which going back to what Saphire once said is not really going to happen when the support of Bristol struggles with 2 clubs. No I don't want a shared club, but in all honesty would not object in the slightest to a shared ground. This will never happen if you shared AG or when you get the UWE. But if both chairman/owners sat down and thought for the sport of Bristol one ground like the San Siro (not size) would work.

Don't think I'm having a pop it just seems we are in debt don't care who to, sad fact is we are. You could end up in some debt when the answer is staring in our faces one ground, one conference centre one hotel generating to both clubs year round?

Might get slated but that is my opinion to drive us all forward.

Any way still think your ****e ;)

This is one thing I'm in total agreement with you upon. If BCC had led the way and shown some vision the idea of
a shared ground with all the other facilities you mention is a no-brainer to me. However events have moved on
and both sets of fans have got everything crossed in hope/anticipation!

I must say that your response is extremely interesting Red. I have to agree on most points.

Only thing I am not in the loop on is where rugby will be played the year after next. I thought the rugby club were on board to move with the Rovers.

The ground share is a no-brainer and that could eventually lead to a more positive approach to an amalgamated Bristol club which in my opinion is also a no-brainer if we ever wish to support a club challenging the top six in the Prem.

The obvious choice for a centrally located ground would probably have been along the spine road at Lawrence Hill.

But that's all pie in the sky now. Decisions have been made and bigotry continues to rule.

However, as I said before, I believe there is huge potential mileage in the UWE location.

As a supporter of Br1STol football, I wish everyone a better season than the last couple!!

Also as I have no idea what ****e could possibly mean, I shall assume that you were being overly polite.
