the captain should be allowed to confront the ref and ask why a certain decision was made but the rest must learn that they must keep their distance. Man utd players and chelsea must be the biggest culprits of this time wasting tactics and the premiership must stop this as its getting out of hand. Maybe a huge fine that increases the more times you do it will suffice. I dont know but something do need to be done.

It's not just Rooney, musty. It's a culture that's spread throughout the game unfortunately.

so true KJ, thought foul and abusive language towards a ref was a red card, shame the refs don't have the balls to use it

I see it local youth games now and the parents don't stop it, they encourage it if anything. Would love to see Rooney sin binned for 10 minutes for foul mouthing the ref at the end of a match and then United lose a 1-0 lead in the Champs League final. The scrote would take that with him for the rest of his career that his attitude cost him, his teammates and his club the big prize.

Maybe it would be good just for abuse of the officials. I can see it working then, no room for ambiguity. Would be interesting to see a player sin binned for arguing the toss about another sin binning <laugh>

Interesting thread guys, think respect for the ref is the priority. Would love to see sin binning being applied to football but don't think it would work for the reasons already stated previously. Players must be told not to "crowd" the ref, if this happens the ref should raise the yellow card and all players within arms length are immediately booked, the fourth official can monitor the tv evidence. Going to be tough on anyone with a yellow card already but they will have been warned.
Have a good season, make sure you stay up.
Hoping for a draw tomorrow night, that would be great for us. ( Supporter of good football from 'Ull )
