Reckon he will- It would be a very much of a knee jerk reaction to change- Remember where we were when he first came, we owe him a bit longer yet

Actually I preferred 2008 - our playoff year.
Every week the bookies predicting us to lose - but we ground out a 1-0 win every time.
The Sun actually abandoned its predictions that season as it got it wrong every time!
The playoff games against Warnock were sheer nectar...

Probably one of the most apt phrases of this thread, although would disagree with 5 of us more like 8 and Hudds would make 9 .. .. TRUE what was stated end of last season a few bad results and we would be on the teams back, and that almost includes everyone ! in the odd comment of negativity including me, although I expect us to finish in top 12 instead of top 6 as we are incomplete need 2 more signings...

As I've said on other threads. If we are towards the bottom of the league come January, then no-one who is any good will want to come to us and join a relegation fight that might be only going one way.

The speel we was feed after last season, with a tilt at promotion this year got me really excited.
Don't think we have a squad capable of keeping us up.

I think anyone who thinks that Lansdown is going to sit idly and watch City get relegated is wrong. He's already pout his money on the line by sanctioning bids for strikers that most of us could never dream City would be paying. We all owe him a debt of gratitude for keeping the club afloat. Yes, mistakes have been made and his bank balance reflects that.

Our problem is the inequality of parachute payments. The arm chair viewers of the UK and the rest of the world have allowed the EPL & Sky to f%ck up OUR GAME. The notion of being competitive in the top tier fr most teams is now a fairy tale. It just won't happen unless a crazy wealthy owner comes in and then the business model is completely unsustainable the day they leave.

The EPL throws a few scraps on the floor for the lower leagues and tells us we should be grateful for it. I'd like to meet Peter Scudamore one day and kick him squarely in the balls. He claims to be a football fan (a City fan at that) but he and his ilk are all about greed and we've let them do it.

I don't care if City never get to the Premier League. I want us to be a well run club, playing good football at prices the fans can afford.

As for this season, we're not be outplayed. We need a few good signings and we have a chance of mid table. Look at the table now - 2 wins and we'd all be happy. We just need to get those wins now so we don't end up rooted with the gap widening. Saturday against MKD is an absolute must win.

Well said Tampa! Like so many things, football included, that were created and founded in England we have long since seen them all given away without a fight. There is no equality in English football anymore especially when it comes down to a matter of money and the writing is on the wall for a lot of clubs who can't afford to compete in today's ludicrous money soaked carnival attracting all sorts of freaks and pretenders.

When I hear statements such as Man Utd losing 10 million on a deal (Falcao?) they never should have entered anyway it makes me feel sick especially when I know that the money thrown away by such a club could sustain a lower team for about 3-5 years. It's a sorry sight to see our heritage being given away to foreign investors who have no knowledge or caring about the history of the English League and let's be honest why should they give a tinkers cuss about us? I can rant on forever about the subject of foreign ownership and achieve nothing because as most people tell me constantly that it's the way of today's world - so get used to it and shut up.

You only have to look at the state of FIFA right now to understand how the sport of football has degenerated in to a bloodbath of greedy people interested only in their own agenda and the monies coming down their road with no strings attached unless you count the cord they are using to strangle any life left in the game. Regrettably we have one of the worst offenders on this side of the pond in Jack Warner who for some inexplicable reason, despite being fingered many times over corruption allegations, hung around the CONCACAF offices for years under a cloud of suspicion but has now been banned for life.

Change is what's needed but don't expect the people who have allowed this inequity to rise and thrive to accept any variation on the current theme which is to smash and grab their way to their version of success and to hell with the rest.

You kick the right one Tampa and I'll take care of the left nut. Perhaps the time is right to let the greedy take their own path to success and we'll take care of ourselves in a league that doesn't allow entry to those who set out to destroy the heritage that took the world by storm but has petered out to just a flicker.

    Rant over.

I find it amazing that some posters are throwing the towel in already, Rr the biggest culprit, 9 games gone and we are bottom of the league, out played only by Reading, with a little bit of luck (and all teams need it) it could look an all lot better, as we can all see, the three promoted teams are all at the bottom, none can afford to spend vast amounts of money, even though we were prepared to, i think a couple of good signings we will be fine, i think for a second tier league this is the toughest in europe, so lets be prepared for one tough season, and do you know what i think we will be fine, just.

Tampa - you mentioned parachute payments - whatever happened to Blacpool's? And Wigans for that matter?
    Blackpool is definitely skint!

It's well documented that the relegated clubs get massive financial assistance to try and help cover the cost of the players inflated contracts. I have no idea what their contractual arrangements are and how much debt they ran up trying to both get to and stay in the Premier League. What I do know that that a fool and his gold are easily parted and financial mismanagement at foot ball clubs is the norm, so it's no surprise that Blackpool has hit the skids, especially when they were constrained by the size of their ground in terms of raising match-day and non-match day revenues.

Parachute payments are almost an incentive for failure. The yo-yo clubs like QPR and possibly Burnley will have significantly more cash available to build promotion chasing squads and it creates a huge advantage. We can't compete with that. We have to out think them but that demands a great scouting network and a strong academy. Someone mentioned Soton as a prime example of that, even before they were in the top flight.
