STRIKER Ji Dong-won is desperate to play his part when Sunderland visit Liverpool tomorrow.

The Korean summer signing (pictured) accepts that the trip to Anfield is one of the toughest possible starts to the campaign, but he is in high spirits after enjoying pre-season with the Black Cats.

“There are lots of good players here and the competition is fierce. I’m not sure if I’ll be involved in the squad for the opening day,” Ji told safc.tv.

“I’ve done my best so far and hopefully I’ll get my chance.

“I’m not too sure about how Liverpool will play as a team but I’m aware of their great players. They are a strong club and I’m sure they’ll be a big test.

“Liverpool had a difficult time last season, but I’m expecting them to be much better this year.

“In the Liverpool game, the most important thing is to stop them scoring first and at set-pieces they will be strong, so we will have to be very careful at those times if we are to be successful.

“The first game will be really important so if we can get a win we will be confident and I’m sure that will help us get points and get our season started well.

“Liverpool are a very strong team and we will need to be ready for them, but I’m very excited about the game.”

So the question.......

Who get the nod first, Ji or Wickham?

Both on the bench and depending on how the game is going come on with 20 mins to go. If only one comes on then it will be Ji
