Doesn't surprise me - as posted on this and other threads - the fact that the owners have stayed short of an open message of commitment to NP (in the circumstances) for me indicates it would be naive to make any 'assumptions'.
The Mail again. The same paper that went against the tide last weekend saying Pearson was going. They're either (a) somehow in the know, even more so than our single club-focused local paper or (b) keeping up the age-old tradition of printing bullshit (and not just regarding football either). I wonder which it is?
Glad to see the majority did back Pearson. Only 8 voted to get rid; a small but vociferous group. I wonder if anyone is honest enough to own up as being part of it?
Yes it does, but he'd be silly not to sign a new one. The 8 that voted to get rid must have been Hull fans For the record, i wasn't bothered either way.
I think I might have been. I didn't see him having the ability to pick up the squad and start again. To not only do that, but to drive us to the Premier League has been nothing short of phenomenal. Has to win manager of the year in my eyes, and I would have been tempted to rid him of the opportunity. In many ways, I suppose changing the manager would have had the opposite effect. Last night on the Footballers' Football Show Niall Quinn was talking about the Sunderland side he was part of that finished on 91 points but still failed to get promotion. He said that once the final whistle went they had a "Steven Gerrard moment" where they said "right, we know we're good enough, now we've got a job to do". None of them contacted their agents saying they wanted moves to the 1st division and they all stayed and completed the job the next season, promoted by March. It's almost an identical season to ours.
