If it meant the end for Slade, would you prefer to be beaten by Blackburn next week to get someone else in, or would you prefer the 3 points on the board no matter what?

Maybe a single point from the Blackburn game wouldn't be conclusive enough either way as to where we'll end up in May, but if offered no points and Slade out or three points from a dodgy win (I can't for the life of me see anything better than that), what would be the best for the rest of the season?
 
The worst thing is I think we will lose and Slade still wont get the sack.

Therefore we need 3 points. Then its probably 4 more lucky wins.

So id take the win.

The club is only going 1 way with Slade and thats down.

12500 last night I reckon.
 
At the stat of the season I thought we'd get a play off spot. We'd made some decent looking signings (not that it turned out that way), Then I realised we had not game plan. The situation is now far worse. We've sold off or ripped up the contracts of the decent players we had and we still have no game plan to speak of.

Not a happy situation!!!!!

I agree that even were we to lose Slade won't get sacked. In fact, I don't think they'll sack him until the summer. God knows what's going on, but it's not good. We're not even holding on by the tips of our fingertips anymore; we're tumbling down the cliff.

Even after Blackburn, there'll still be 15 games left - plenty of time to go down.

I'm just encouraged by Slade telling us we're going through a transition period - I'd never have guessed that.
 
Not difficult because Slade probably won't be sacked after a Blackburn loss. Even if he was, there is no guarantee that a new manager is ready to walk in or if they are any good (and don't say they couldn't be worse because this is Cardiff).

So, 3 points please.
 
It's not if we lose, more a case of how we lose. The performance against Brighton was described live on the radio as the worst performance witnessed by two sides for many a year, and cannot be tolerated. When we lost to Norwich at home, if you think back Macheda almost put us 3-0 up, goodness knows what could have happened if that went in. We lost, and lost again in a 0-1 reverse at home against a poor Middlesbrough team. We showed nothing that night and the nice man got the poke. Lose playing with some promise and he'll stay, give us another Brighton and he will surely go in my humble!
Got to ask where the goalie was for this goal too?

I think Blackpool and Wigan are too far behind to be a threat to us. 14 and 16 points is absolutely massive if you don't know where the next win is coming from.

Every other side currently below us is playing better than we are. That should be setting huge alarm bells ringing.

The issue is they kept the muppet through January. The writing was on the wall before then, we were a terrible side before the window started. After backing him in January you can sort of understand the rational that he needs time to develop his side. It's ****ing bollocks though and the guy's a clueless chancer who was destined for obscurity if he'd been sacked by Orient.
If a new man is brought in now, keeping us up should be a fairly simple task. There's a points buffer and it'll only take a few results to make relegation worries a distant memory. If they wait till we're further in the **** then the pressure could be too much for our mentally fragile squad.
 
It's the old adage, when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging - Slade is actually digging our grave and someone needs to act before it's too late.

It seems to be that the club is hoping there are three worse teams in this division than us. To be fair there are in terms of playing staff, but not in terms of management. Apart from Blackpool, I can't think of any clubs with a worse scenario behind the players on the pitch than ours. The absolute clueless approach of Slade aided and abetted by an equally visionless Young is ruining this club in front of our faces.

It's not too early to cut them both loose right now just to get the "new manager effect" that a new regime would bring.

I noticed that Pulis's Weat Brom beat Swansea last night and have only lost once in the seven games since he took over. Too late for us now, but if Tan had pushed the boat out to get him rather than this poor third rate journeyman we've been saddled with, we'd be top 6 right now instead of staring at the bottom 6.

You can just see Moore's left glove on the right hand edge of the picture. In fairness to him only 2 feet of goal shown. My question would be why was Peltier marking their main aerial threat, Martin, in open play? Surely either Morrison or Connolly should have been doing the job? Both in picture and nowhere near him. <doh>
 
Bluey - I seem to recollect that Martin had played the ball infield from wide on their left and had gone toward goal from there. Peltier tracked him whilst Morro and Connolly looked after those in the box at the time.

Peltier ducked out and gave Martin a virtual free header.
 
That may be Sparks - so Connolly was marking the huge aerial threat Hobbit Ward (where was Malone? No, don't answer that!!! <doh>) and Morrison was marking Dawkins, another one of Snow White's friends!!! Although from the picture he looks about 3 yards away from him.

Further questions raised about defensive organisation - or lack of it!!!!!
 
Great ball in from their replacement right back, perfectly stood up to the back post ready for Martin to attack.

It was delivered from relatively deep, if I remember correctly, and right on the money. Martin had a run on the defender and is almost impossible to stop in that scenario. The header was absolutely perfect as well.

Sometimes I think you've got to take a bit of good play on the chin. Once you allow that sort of quality delivery you're in trouble and in fairness the play to make space for the full back was hard to stop as they switched the attack and he was in a relatively harmless position.

Quality ball, quality finish.
 
Agreed on the finish but still very poor marking by our 2 centre backs who should have done better.

Very poor organisation and awareness.

Back in the days of Hudson and Turner we got caught by crosses from the byeline quite often but rarely conceded to crosses from this sort of distance.

Anyway, all bloody history now. But it will happen again and Rudy will be the man to do it next week.

Very rare anyone scores against any side from a cross played from that area. It's why you have to give credit to the 'Beckhamesque' cross imo.
I'm all for Alan Hansen style defensive blame for every goal but sometimes you have to acknowledge the quality. Once a superb cross has left the attackers boot the goal is well on it's way to being scored. You have to stop that sort of quality entering the box especially if you've got someone as dangerous as Martin waiting.

The fact the ball was played from such a safe area of the pitch is why it was practically undefendable as I struggle to blame us for allowing a cross from a fullback in that area.

As you say it's all history now, Rudy might well smash us in the air but hopefully Blackburn wont provide the same standard of delivery.
