Merge threads <cheers>

To which thread? The Jan transfer one? I personally think this is big enough news to warrant it's own thread but anyway...

This is such a weird move by Everton, imo. The lad is nowhere near ready for premier League football, he's not even good enough to be a regular starter for us in the Championship.

I think he's at the perfect stage in his development for a Championship loan - good enough to get regular minutes at this level but not quite "automatic first choice" level, but could potentially get there by the end of the season if he knuckles down.

Everton will maybe play him once or twice and realise he's not ready yet. All they've done is massively stunt his development. Really weird move, has noone at the club watched him play this season?

As for us, it's maybe a blessing in disguise as it piles pressure on the board to hold on to Rossco. We also need AT LEAST one more striker and, realistically, two.

Interesting times ahead...

It may be that Everton have a buyer for Simms as a result of his displays for us.
If so clubs may be prepared to loan us more of their young players which they feel wont quite reach their required standards. Effectively looking to us to give them a polish and put them in the shop window
We just don't know yet.

I'm sure there will be some fun and games in this transfer window

Yeah I agree, I see why merging gets done sometimes but sometimes it gets done unnecessarily.
This absolutely does warrant a thread of its own.

Losing Simms will be a big blow, he fits into our system perfectly, but this is always the risk you take when you borrow another teams player instead of signing one permanently. Who's to say Man U wont call Amad back aswell?

We just seem to have no luck at all this season when its comes to having everybody available. It's been none stop injuries and now this.

We are currently 4th, now is the time for powers to be to dig deep and show us fans how much intent and ambition they really have, because right now we are one of the best teams in the league but that could all drastically change if they try and do things on the cheap.

Maybe Everton are wanting Steward and we are refusing, so they are recalling Simms to prove a point, probs way off the mark

I’d be amazed if that was true however Lampard is so desperate it’s possible. If true, Everton would be chucked on a blacklist if I was in charge of our club.

Totally unfair on the lad. We can all see there are big parts to his game that need more development and, he gets that from playing minutes in a lower league . There will be far too much pressure on him. I hope we have someone lined up as we need to add to forwards without this.

Think it’s a bad move from Everton, he’s got a way to go to be a good PL striker and just like amad hes better off here learning his trade. Could be destroying all the good work he’s done in his short career by putting pressure on him to score the goals to try and keep them up. He’ll be a miss but no way does Stewart go in this window and I’m confident we’ll get 2 good replacements in

My prayers and hopes are with you.

The next few weeks of ins & outs will decide the 2nd half of the season.

This is where the proof is in the pudding as far as our model is concerned. There should be replacements already identified to replace those that leave. Simms is useful but doesn’t make the most out of his size and strength imo. Our strong league position and growing reputation for young players developing here should put us in a good position and hopefully we bring someone in who is an upgrade.
