****ing snake in the grass. You don't "Have" to be in the market at all, there's loads of players you could chase and you already preside over Steven Gerrard. If you HADN'T come out with those comments Gylfi would probably have a lot easier decision to make. Cheers for that, Brendan.

Brendan is a wily young fox, appearing to leave gylfi make up his own mind, but then giving him something else to think about, and at the same time trying to make it look like he is not trying to scupper the move to us , i have changed my view of brendan over the last couple of days i think a lot of soundbites he has given in interviews have appeared insincere to me regarding swansea, it may be me but i get the feeling he is just telling people what he thinks they need to hear.

What Rodgers said was that he wouldn't disrupt the deal with Swansea.

BUT Gylfi was moving mostly due to him.

SO if the deal with Swansea fell through, he might be interested in him (along with other targets).

Now, take your tinfoil hats off. The world is not out to get you.

You underestimate rodgers, the fact he has allegedly come out and said anything could turn sigurdsonns head, brendan knows by saying anything regarding the move it could impact on siggys decision, personally i want rodgers to share with liverpool fans how he is going to win the champions league for you, what is happening at swansea is no longer anything to do with him,

Exactly. If he'd have kept his mouth shut it would have been an easier decision. Now, Gylfi knows if he decides to **** the Swans off Liverpool will be interested.

As I said before, cheers Brendan. Keep up like this and I'll think you're a **** by Christmas!

You are being naive about this, he said he wouldn't interrupt the deal, but will buy him if he decides not to come to swansea, and now its up to him! That reads we will offer you more money at liverpool ! Now there is no tin hats to take off, its something that has been said! Now as thread has been posted by a cardiff fan pretending to be a swans fan according to it the player has already agreed terms as is going to you <doh>

I'm tired of all this **** now to be honest. If he's not signing - just say so and get on with it. All the speculation is just ruining threads here. If he doesn't sign then I wish Rodgers all the bad luck in the world and hope he fails dismally in his new job. Also when their lot come to the Liberty next season - I hope he is given hell by us that makes him never want to step foot in Wales again.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could snatch midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson away from former club Swansea.

Rodgers not out to replace Dalglish

    Rodgers: Reading experience key

Sigurdsson is yet to sign a contract with the Swans despite agreement on a club-record £6.8million deal to sign him permanently from Hoffenheim following a successful loan spell.

Rodgers had pushed the Welsh club to sign Sigurdsson, who he also worked with at Reading, but the Northern Irishman's move to Anfield could prompt a rethink by the player.

Rodgers has vowed to let Sigurdsson talk to the new Swansea boss first - after agreeing with chairman Huw Jenkins not to poach any of his former players for 12 months - but said he would make a move for the Iceland international should any talks break down.

"Gylfi came to Swansea because I was there as manager and his scoring record was fantastic," he said.

"I pushed the club to make an agreement (to sign Sigurdsson permanently) and they did that in terms of the fee - and agreed the salary. So I have said to Huw: 'I'm not going to do anything untoward. This is a guy you want, but it is down to Gylfi'.

"If he comes on the market I have to be interested. He knows that I rate his qualities and abilities.

"I said to Huw: 'If I speak to the kid I'll tell him to speak to the new manager, whoever that is'. But if he's not comfortable with that, he's in the market place then - and I have to look at him."

There was supposed to be a ? at the end. I looked for a way to change it but I can only find a way to edit the post not the title. So title should be Sigurdsson To Join Liverpool?. Let me know how to change it and I will.

Can't see how pointing out a press story is a WUM.

get real lads what would you do if you were siggs???
I would join liverpool anyone would. ..Brendan has been fair and above board in getting the lad to talk to our new manager whoever that is....at the end of the day is siggs decision and how he sees things, Its no big deal but i would snub swansea and follow brendan to a bigger club.....we need to get a manager asap or we will miss out on a few players that are being snapped up at the moment, that is the priority and not whether siggs signs for us or not....we have more important issues to deal with....

How would it be more wisely spent if not on a proven goal-scoring midfielder?

Didn't he imply that he would go for Siggy if we didn't complete the deal when he "urged him to join us" anyway?

Either way, I had a feeling he would do this. What a prick.
