I haven't seen enough of him to really comment. I guess I can't my head round the transfer fees. For £90 million, I'm expecting to see a Renaldo, Bale, Suarez etc., but I just don't see it.
Fair point. I do think it's also down to the manager and coaching staff to bring the best out in him as well. He should be being used as a box to box mf imo, but quite often he comes across as neither. I wonder whether he's not under instructions to hold back whereas I really think he should be let off the leash a bit and told to get forward. Quite often when he beats a man with a bit of trickery, his first instinct isn't to pass forward or look for someone in space in front of him, instead it's to hold up play or make a 10 yard pass that gains no tactical advantage and actually slows down play. And if he's not doing that, he's lobbing a ball over the top - which if it works is lauded over, but it's nothing more than I would've expected Schneiderlin to do. I really think that's coming from the manager tbh.
I don't think he's missed many games, so he must be following Maureen's instructions to the letter. The bit I don't get is that Fergie had a good eye for the youngsters and let him go, I'm not seeing anything to think that Fergie got it wrong. As you said early days, could be the difference next year.
Kante for ££30 million...unfortunately for us ...Chelsea won't falter as long as the little man doesn't get injured...
I was at the game yesterday and you're dead right. The signing of the season without a shadow of a doubt. He's definitely more of an £89m player than Pogba.
Mane, Kante or Ibrahimovic. Neither Liverpool, Chelsea or Man Utd would be where they were without those players. Mane and Zlatan are the only ones scoring or making goals in their respective teams, and Kante has made a defence made up of Cahill and David Luiz look impenetrable. (kind of a joke regarding Luiz though, he has seriously impressed me since his return by how he has matured)
Just want to add that back in 2012, Bayern Munich also made a defence of Cahill and David Luiz look impenetrable
Wouldn't put him forward as THE signing, but mention should be made of Victor Wanyama. For £11m he has improved a position we were very strong in last year. When he came, most of us thought he was a walking red card, but the defensive skills have been top class. Passes and shoots pretty well too, which was a surprise to me.
Yeah, what happens is, people give him loads of space because, well, you can afford to. He's not going to create anything, that's not what he's there for. But then, just occasionally, this happens...
