Now DC changes formation to the formation I suggested before kick off. 4-0 down DC... its too ****ing late!!!!
To be honest, I don't rate the Sweeney/ Lockyer pairing. Broadbent looks more solid than Sweeney, and his pairing during the recent internationals looked better. I know it's a tough call when they're both getting international call ups, but they need to do a lot better than this. Bola's decent and so are Leads and Partington. But we need a settled back four. Hardly a shot at goal either tonight. Terrible all round really.
Their manager did a great job during the back end of last season and they've carried on where they left off. I'm pretty sure they'll last the pace, which is incredible for relegation favorites who as you say are probably on a smaller budget than us. I think DC needs to go back to the drawing board, because things have got pretty inconsistent. 6-5 in the last three games when three scruffy 1-0s would have been much better.
Looking at the goals, the defence looked terrible. I know the whole team need to defend, but the two central defenders were too far apart for a couple of the goals, their guy had a free header for the fourth and our full back was well beaten to the header for the other goal. There doesn't seem to be any leadership/organisation at the back.
Have seen DCs post match interview and he takes full resposibility for the performance, which certainly on this occasion he should. He doesn't appear to know yet which is his best starting eleven and thats rather worrying.
Rovers did well at the start and your players pressed us, that stopped us playing our usual game. If you could have continued that then there might have been points to share. Your team played a bit like ours did earlier last season, taking most of the game to take a shot, I know your main striker is off atm but Plymouth held us last saturday by sticking 9 players just in front of goal. Hurst has brought in cheap misfits from other clubs and a few key eager loanees, mix this up with some previous managers players and we have done better than expected. Nolan, the attacking midfielder was with relegated Chesterfield and we questioned why he'd bring in someone from there. He proved us wrong. One thing that the management have done is instil fitness big time. We see our squad running for 90 mins and Hurst will quite often not make a substitution unless forced to or to change tactics. Pace has also been introduced alongside height/strength. Good luck with rest of season and hope you have a good season, barring Feb 3rd of course BTW interesting read for you all on League One https://wherethesmokegoes.wordpress.com
