A frustrating day at the Abbey Stadium. Having to stand because the South Stand seats were needed for a Family Day (and the re-enactment of the Christmas truce at halftime) gave the match a decidedly retro (if not unpleasant) feel. Cambridge have scored a lot of goals this season so it is a testament to our defence that they never really looked like scoring today. In the first half Akpro's pace gave them all sorts of problems but unfortunately Jean-Louis shot from a narrow angle twice when men were available in space at the far post and then pulled the ball wide from a one-on one with the keeper.
We had a really good fifteen minute spell halfway through the second half and hit the bar twice and the keeper made a really good save from Grant late on so it was a case of two points dropped rather than one gained.
I do not like Woods playing so deep - his tendency to want to beat two or three men caused us problems with lost possession - I much prefer to see him on the edge of the box displaying his passing skills. Lawrence was Man of the Match for me - always steady and increasingly influential in the second half.
