please log in to view this image Looks like yet another Mag turning up at one of our games.. This time chucked out for inciting trouble.
Hope none of you re in the sun at houghton expecting to see my duo. They cancelled us this afternoon. So I’m out getting pissed!!!!
Three good points, clean sheet and great support, three things that can garner the club together for the long haul ahead. oh and another referee that had Catts name written in his notebook prior to kick off.
I was in the main stand (pre-game hospitality) so not too close to the SAFC fans. But their fans in the stand to the left of your picture did move right to the front and confront our lads. Didn't see who/what started it, but the police and stewards were in in a flash, so just handbags basically.
BTW the 1st half was ****e. A chance apiece and a lot of head tennis. Catts was stupid though. Late in on an unnecessary challenge, although it wasn't a booking in my opinion and it was right in front of me.
Can’t remember who on here said it, but it’s a nice league to visit, not one id want to stay in though.
There’s no one in any of the 4 divisions would’ve been booked for that challenge except Cattermole. I’ve seen hundreds of worse go without a card. He carries a reputation and he’s an easy target down here. Mane kicked out with 2 feet all studs showing last week and made contact. Not even a talking to!! Double standards
Couldn't have worked out better, top manager, top owners, top recruitment, **** league and the perfect setup for us to recover, get stronger and become the side that the support deserves.
The game was very boring until Gooch came on. He started to press and win some throw ins. Now, all of a sudden, we have a much wider shape and bite to our attack. I think it was Gooch's cross which led to the first goal, and when O'nien fell down and lost the ball - Gooch rescued it and basically just waited for O'nien to get up and then slotted him in. Gooch looked a bit gimpy at times, his fitness will probably have to be 'managed' for a while. Our CB's looked a bit suspect with the ball at their feet, but I don't think either of them lost a header dual today.
Gooch is great, top attitude and he's got quality. He's got to be one of the first names on the team sheet when fit. Class through ball for O'Nien and I think you're right that he assisted the first goal too.
My bairn can't get over how Gooch, as a young lad, couldn't wait to get away from California to train with us
Honeyman and O'nien also contributed when they came on, at last we have a manager who can think on his feet, and not just stick to like for like changes when it comes to substitutions. I like the way he learned from the Coventry game, by holding his last card until just the right moment and it was not just sticking Ozturk on to hold out as most would have done, but he took the game to them, and flattened them with a second goal, brilliant stuff, Napoleonic in fact. But I agree Gooch was the catalyst and Jack got this spot on too, by keeping him on the bench until the second half, McGeady was used correctly imo. although it was a poor show first half, its how the Shrews play, read their supporters view on Salut Sunderland, he predicted the course of the game and the result, know your enemy.
In the first half, Shrewsbury crossed from the left had a header/deflection off the bar and missed the follow up (over the top). When I watched the game, it seemed that Mclaughlin kicked the resulting dead ball from well outside the goal area, like it was a freekick. Didn't see the kick on the highlights and the commentator said nothing. Also no comments in any match reports. Anyone any idea what went on? If it was a freekick, I assume that if there had been a goal it wouldn't have stood.
