I don't think they'd sell for 12m Mush. In fact I'm almost certain they wouldn't. Personally there's not many in the PL I'd swap him for bar the obvious Toure. He is in a similar bracket to Feillani, Lucas etc. I think you'd be forking out 20m plus for them. Our leagues fees are absurd though.
How come we are better supported than most premier league clubs (some by about more than 15-20,000 average per game !) and they finish above us.
He's as good as Lucas, but Lucas wouldn't bring in £20million! Fellaini & YaYa are the 2 best in the league, they'd do £20million plus, nobody else. He is probably next in line, but he's not close to Afro & YoYo! There's a cracking holding player at Valenciennes, Carlos Sanchez, I could see you selling Cheik for £12-16million, bringing in Sanchez (with your obvious links to the League of Frogs) and having a potentially better all round player (if a little behind defensively) for about £4-6million. To get close to £20million for Cheik, you need 3 or 4 clubs GENUINELY interested, could happen, but I don't see it. I'm gonna say he ends up at Chelsea, for around £14million.
Well that was maybe, i stress maybe another **** up, as all this nonsense about his knees seems nil and void so far........
All opinions I suppose but I'd defo bracket him with Feillani personally. Similar issues funnily enough, they give away loads of free kicks. I think Cheik is quite a bit better than him as a holder, but then Fellani is a lot better than Cheik going forward. I just couldn't see Mike selling for a fee in the region of 12-14 million. We seem to have become quite adept at fleecing the **** out of other clubs! The thing with Tiote is we are under no pressure after he signed the 6 yr contract. Chelsea has always looked the likely destination because of Essiens troubles!
Problem with fees now is the FIFA rulings, meaning spending mega-money could take you out of Europe. This means last years £20million, is more like £14million. I'm not being biased, but I do think Fellaini is on another level, to the point that if I could have ANY player from the Prem, he'd be behind only Aguero, Silva, RVP & Rooney. I rate him that highly.
First things first, the flash sale will be entirely dependent on what day we're playing our European football on next season. Wednesday and I don't see us selling any for astronomical fees, Thursday and 2 or 3 may be shifted on. Although it saddens me that someone I loved in Black n White stripes this season could be easily wearing blue or red next season, the breaking down of our squad isn't something that worries me TOO much. No, I'm not being 'daloodid' or arrogant, I'm less worried because at present, all of our players are logged into a monitoring system, which considers everything from current form, age, potential, injuries, commercial stock and timing (e.g. end of transfer window) and values each player individually. Attached to each player is a potential replacement, which a potential replacement for the replacement should the transfer window take a bit of a turn away from our favour. So, with the news that Real are interested in Cisse, we'll already have a potential player lined up (with back up if he is signed by someone else) with the Cisse fee rising due to the fact that Real Madrid are big spenders, or at least have been in the past. Another reason I like our scouts is Graham Carr has spoken about the type of player he feels is 'right' for the squad. Saying things like "They're great players, but they wouldn't suit the system, or wouldn't fit in with the squad". That's important to me, and its clear that all of our current squad get on well and socialise together...Hopefully all new signings will be bought with this in mind!
It's crystal clear that your scouting system is working, and equally as clear that the right 'sort' are being scouted. I just hope, and I genuinely believe we will, follow suit now that Bruce has gone. We need strong mentality at Sunderland, you could make a great point that playing in front of 40k as a lesser player brings it's own pressure.
I don't see why you and 50% of the Premier League's other teams can't/won't. We proved over the past 2 years that it can be done after proving in the previous 10 years that spending big doesn't result in silverware! Its a simple fact that due to lower wages and less TV revenue, French players can be picked up for relative pittance in comparison to English players...Carroll cost 4 times the money Cisse did! Its the same with the Dutch and to a certain extent, the German league. On the subject, have Sunderland been linked with many unknowns/obscure names recently?
Nah not about being biased, you just have a preference. To be honest I rate them both that highly. I think guys who can take hold of a game single handed are few and far between. I hope these FIFA rulings do take a harsh stance. Not just because it'll suit us either, I just think the money is corrupting the game and has been since the inception of the PL. I just fear that these clubs are a law unto themselves now, and they'll just look at ways to get round it. Citeh started that process with the sponsorship announcement. I think they may have been too quick with that mind, as they've given FIFA/UEFA the chance to block it. If they'd waited till the rules were in place and then announced, you'd be in a much trickier scenario. Anyway Mush we just need to ring those nice americans at Liverpool and get them involved. Nevermind 20m, we'll be talking 40m with their understanding of the English transfer market.
Marco Branca,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,long time no see, forgot all about him, glad he is alive and kicking.
If our players want to go to one of the 'elite' and the buying club are willing to pay the ridiculous price Ashley will demand, then so be it! Cissé won't be able to play for another club before January though if I'm right, could be a saving grace - not that I think he'll be moving anywhere anyway.
PMSL at that BB! Inter after Ben Arfa, Real Madrid after Cisse......... I reckon we could cope with losing one "star" player a year, possibly two at a push. As long as no-one poaches Carr we'd survive.
Seriously mate, I've heard all about him, and watched loads of French, with an eye out for him, and i genuinely don't see ANYTHING. I don't get it mate. He isn't special, for me, I may be proved wrong, but to this point, nothing for me.
Tiote might not be a 20mil player but it will take a bid near that for the club to even consider it. We are in the process of building and are probably a year or 2 ahead of what we planned. Being in Europe next season is going to have a massive bearing on how we conduct our transfer activity. Any major outgoings will only be considered if replacements are lined up and likely to sign. Because of the extra games we will play in, the club will think twice before off loading anyone. It also looks like we will lose Guthrie this summer who is tiote's natural stand in, so for me, I seriously don't think tiote will be sold this summer. I could be wrong like but he is going to be too important for us next season. Luckily, Newcastle as a club are now in a financial position to not have to cave in when the bigger clubs come sniffing. If they don't meet our price, then they don't get our player. Ba is the worry, but unless a CL club comes in for him, I don't think he will move. And the top clubs will be very cautious over his knees.
