Should we start Ben Arfa in the next 3 games?

Think that he should start only if Obertan and Marveaux aren't fit. And if he doesn't want to track back then he shouldn't play in the middle ...

Yep, its what forums are all about!

 

I love these threads when some maverick comes on and starts suggesting we play a new formation. There's always one every time! Why on earth would we change formation when the team is settled and playing well. Not only that, it's not like the suggestion is to switch from 4-4-2 to a more defensive 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1 which at least keeps the back four settled, it's a bloomin' 3-5-2 or 5-3-2!! Williamson, who hasn't played since August is recalled and our wingers are replaced with out-and-out wingbacks. What's more, Gutierrez is now AM/CF whilst being asked to cover both wingbacks!!. What about the Raylor-Guti combo we've seen this season!?! Do you really think, given that we're unbeaten and looking very settled, that Pardew is going to make drastic changes!? We'll line up with as much of the same team as possible, if Best is out I'd imagine Shola will play. Down the right we'll probably see Santon/Gosling/HBA if Marveux is out.

What a nutter!!


edit or Guthrie down the right if tiote and cabaye are fit.

 

I agree that it doesn't stop us, but the mood is abit brought down by negative comments about articles, I just think it's a touch unnecessary to make comment. If you're not interested in this article, click back and move on to a different one! Obviously it's up to you, but I just don't see the need for negativity, we're third in the league and just having a discussion on who we want to see playing to keep that going for abit longer!

 

Presuming Marveaux is out, and Ben Arfa is not a winger and will not be played there; I would line up like this:

The first one is the exact team I'd play if Tiote and Cabaye are fit - hope there are, we need them!

 

Can Santon play the right wing? Not sure I would be too comfortable about that

 

You can't meddle with our front two. At the moment Best wins the flick ons, runs the channels, holds upthe ball, does all the gritty stuff that creates room and opportunities. Ba puts them away.

When we have had Ba and HBA, Ba treis to do all the stuff that Best usually does. He doesn't do it as well as Best, but he tries which means that he doesn't have time to do his usual jub. HBA does his stuff, but at the moment he is less effective in Ba's position than Ba is.

The result is we are weaker up front with Ba in for Best, and weaker in the hole with HBA doing Ba's job.

Obertan and Marveaux are out for City. Play HBA right wing. It may not be his preferred position but it is the only one in which he is going to make the team stronger, unless we leave out Ba and play a 5 man midfield

Simple.

I don't think going all out defensive against City is the best idea - just encourages them to come at you and we'll end up getting broken down. Need Ba and Best to give their defence hell all game - both will put in shift and will help out the midfield from time to time.
