Doesn't FFP just try to protect clubs from racking up huge losses and putting themselves at risk of going bust? We were sold FFP as a system that would stop ridiculous spending and make it a more level playing field, but the likes of Man City have just got around it with ludicrous sponsorship deals from their owners. The same could happen at any other club, although where I think the opportunity has passed is that the cost of building a team capable of competing has sky rocketed. Abramovich was buying up world class players for £20m when he came in. Now you would be talking £80m+. It would take over a billion to be spent on players to do what he did, then probably £100m per year to maintain your place in the top end of the league.
Exactly the point. Building a title challenging team is far too expensive now, you couldn't do it without breaking FFP rules. So all the advantage is with the existing big teams who have enormous revenues.
Well you could, just means you don't play in Europe and at the moment we don't anyway. Surely just spend big getting the squad ready then in 3 years time be back in Europe? Or am I confused again?
