Is anyone actually uncalm? As in angry, furious, about to lose it?

Since Ashley it's been about dreary apathy rather than anger surely?

I see the moon on a stick in your shot that fat mike promised Rafa when he first came to the club. Didn't take long to realise that there ain't no moon....and there ain't no stick !

Should we chill about the football results because other teams spent more and have one less point? Not sure on that. Should we chill because it doesn't really matter, football's turning to **** anyway, it's bad for our health and life's more important? Yes.

It's all on a slippery slope. Man City's inevitable procession to the title, 5 clubs vying for 4 places (again), what's the point or purpose in any of it? Brighton beat Man U, and it was well deserved. But the press put it down as "plucky" Brighton producing one of their best ever result. I mean, it's so ****ing patronising and cliched. Don't they get how fundamentally crap football has become that anyone daring to beat a "Big 6" team has to produce the performance of a lifetime? What the **** kind of league is this?

Honestly, I see where CC is coming from in wanting to just jack it all in. I think Newcastle fans are only after Ashley because there's **** all else to do. Once 40 points becomes the aim, there's little point in carrying on. Mike's like the plague, the black death, a fat horseman of the apocalypse. He'll only disappear once the whole thing's dead.

Football is obscene. I've been saying it for years, no matter how badly/well your team is doing. I dont take it seriously now.

It's easy to see why ESports is becoming so big. Better entertainment, 6 minutes a half, no Ashley in sight.

It would be nice to show some ambition though and try and get into European spots via 6/7th place or a Cup. For me the cups are a money spinning day out at Wembley for the club and a free run at Europe for everyone outside the top 6, the big clubs treat the League Cup or whatever its called now with contempt and put out 3rd string squads /youngsters. The FA cup holds some prestige but if you can make the 6th Round/Semi Final you are a game or two away from a European adventure and you might just get lucky. I mean even Pardew managed to get us to the QF's of the Europa League.

Has anybody in the media scrutinised the "every penny" statements by Ashley vs our transfer budgets? That seems to be the obvious talking point - that Rafa and fans have been lied to.

Also, I wonder how long it will be before we get a statement from Ashley saying he can't sell the club because of the 'disruptive fans'?

This sums a lot of it up for me as well. What are the chances of NUFC or SAFC winning the title again? Apart from a Leicester-like fluke we have precisely zilch chance without a massively wealthy sugar daddy who's prepared to spunk half a billion quid up the wall. What are we left with, then? An annual tilt at the cups and trying (ultimately unsuccessfully over time) to avoid relegation, with derby days when we're in the same division. It's weird, but League 1 is actually more fun, if not more satisfying, than the upper tier. We can go to games thinking we'll be watching players actually care and who can actually win games by playing decent football. It's certainly a nice change from endless seasons clinging on to Premiership status by buying expensive ****ers who really don't give a ****...

    Sadly, I agree.

Part the sadness is caused by my agreeing with a Mackem and part on the basis of you're right.

I want a team to try and win something not simply to survive in the Gravy Train League.

I said that we we were relegated and stand by the fact that the prem is not the be all and end all and that I would sooner be entertained in whatever league than merely make up the numbers at the top table.
Provided we, more often than not, give a good account of ourselves and have a go at games I'm happy if we aren't pulling up trees in the premier league

FFP has played a large part in ****ing my enjoyment of football.

Until the last decade or so, even just clinging on to Premier League status could keep my interest piqued, as you always had the hope that this Summer would be the one where some mental billionaire would snap you up and turn you into title challengers (and for Man City and Chelsea, that's exactly what happened).

Now with FFP, no one would be able to do that even if they wanted to, so we are confined to never being able to match the existing "Big 6" with their enormous revenue streams and worldwide following.

Surviving in the Prem is now just a confirmation that you'll get to do it all again next season. This is why I can't fathom the attitudes towards the cups from mid-table premier league teams. We should sack off the league and go all in for every cup, every year. Creating those moments that last a lifetime are what make being a football fan special. Not consecutive 13th placed finishes.
