Sell them on the cheap. We'd make an initial loss on some of them (although we got others for free anyway). Rather get 1 million in the bank for a player, then pay out the same in wages to him for the rest of the season. If a team thinks they're getting a bargain then they sometimes don't mind paying a little extra for wages. We certainly didn't mind.
We have to sell and buy players to prepare for next season in the NPC because that league is all about guts and we have none of it.
Why do you think if we go down we'll come straight back up? Wolves Blackburn & Bolton all look ****e and I can't sell 'Arry wanting to do a promotion campaign At this rate Zamora DJ & Hulse as a championship strike force looks half decent
If we're going down and everyone is worried about wages then none of the team can possibly stay. Talking about keeping Green on a reported 50K a week is not helping the problem. Diakite, Taarabt, Traore etc are on too much too. An offer of 4M for Mackie may seem insulting now but if we're in the Championship then it's too much to refuse (and why should we stand in the way of one of our most loyal servants when he could be playing Prem football at some level). The average wage in the second tier is nearer 10K (we were overpaying before we went up) and so I can safely say that there is no-one in our matchday squad who we can afford to keep barring another gamble. The outlook after relegation would be much bleaker than anyone seems to admit to and so we better hope that Harry's continued confidence has some conviction behind it and the near impossible is actually achievable. We also need him to do his magic on the underperforming players and those lacking belief. Loans are a justifiable gamble at this stage but getting in people with less history with the club is riskier than trying to get the individuals already here, with so many medals and caps, playing like they can and combining as a team even if they haven't thus far. Tin hats on and siege mentality time people - we need to believe...
This I remember in the 96 season when QPR fans were saying 'going down would do us good'? It took 16 years to come back with further relegations and the club nearly going bust. Going down is not a good thing and it doesn't automatically mean you will bounce straight back (especially with our board as they would bring in players from Real and Barca against the tough championship teams cold nights up north). No best thing is always to stay up and try again. However sadly this bunch are not good enough.
