We just have to wait the transfer period and if the right player come and with some lucky maybe 6 place it's the maksimum we can reach....hoping for more...don't know what to think...when we completed the team than we can a more clear picture...

Until we have a better idea of our squad at the end of this window I don't want to say that we should be aiming for europe. However, I agree that but for a lapse against the Baggies we would/should have finished 9th so it sounds pessimistic to say that top ten would be good enough.

I just don't want to declare my optimism too early only to find that the squad we have isn't any better come September. That is my head talking.

My heart though is already impressed with our signings to date and is very impressed with the players we are linked to. So my heart says yes we should be capable of challenging for uefa next season and should certainly be aiming for it.

I'll get off the fence at the end of August and decide one way or the other.

We could challenge Everton IF we spend correctly and IF Pardew does his managerial duties properly. Moyes plays a key role in Everton's success because he is a really good manager and is tactically very sound. He gets the most out of his players, so Pards has to as well.

I think Liverpool will be too hard to catch. They clearly have money to burn and I suspect that they will bring in much more quality over the remainder of the window. The only hope we have is that their approach of buying overvalued British talent backfires. It could be big spends like Henderson who let the quality of their side down when form dips. They're definitely building to be a major force again though.

Yes, how envious we are of your own European ambitions, headed by the imminent signing of David N'Gog <laugh>

Yes we should, whether we achieve it is another matter, but we need to aim high.

Sunderland led by N'Gog will be pretty dangerous. God job they have a proven premiership striker in to replace Bent, think the top four will be getting a bit worried.

I'm happy with some solid performances this year, need to consolidate our position, not get too carried away! See where we are at christmas and go from there. Really would like to see us get a couple of strikers in. Toivonen would be good...... reckon we should bid for wickham as well.. go for a gamble.

N'Gog isn't a replacement for Bent. N'Gog will be a squad player if he signs. We want a load of players to build a squad for now then a couple of star signings in August. The good man that is Niall Quinn said so :)

On the talk of Europe, I don't think either side will get in simply because of the top 7 being so strong. Everton are 7th and looked a far better side than either of ours in the second half of last season and have done for many years. I think Ashley's made a big gamble in letting Nolan, probably Enrique and possibly Barton go this summer. You've got a couple of french lads who, let's be honest, you haven't got a clue how well they'll do. Could work very well but if they don't settle quickly then it's a 4th season of falling behind us ;)

Personally I'd take 9th for us. Europe is a massive step away still unless we get a decent cup run (which I really hope we do this year!). Lining up to be a NE fight to the death! But for the meantime...lets just laugh at Boro <laugh>

I doubt Everton will be up there much longer, they haven't improved in a couple of seasons as all the money gos on wages for only a few decent players

That's the thing, they don't need to spend to stay where they are. They've built up a side from nowt thanks to David Moyes. He gets everything he can out of the squad. Maybe when he goes Everton may slip but that won't be for a while yet IMO

Everton do amazingly every year on their budget, very good manager and shrewd buys! They will stay around that 7th spot I reckon as always... Tough top half with Chelsea, Man U, Man City and Liverpool up there, not sure how Spurs will get on this year but they have a good squad. Other than that we have to aim to compete with the rest.

Well, let's see. We currently have a strong spine of quality through the side in Krul, Coloccini, Enrique (if he stays), Barton (if he stays), Tiote, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Ba, Marveaux and so on. The plan also seems to be to add another £25+million worth of players to that current spine of quality. For 7th place, we're likely to be competing with the likes of:

    - Everton
    - Sunderland (depending on how they spend)
    - Fulham
    - Aston Villa

Everton and Villa pose the largest threats in competing for that spot, but it entirely depends on how they spend this season too. I doubt Everton are going to change much (and they'd have to sell their best players if they wanted to), but I've heard that Villa will have quite a chunky transfer budget like we do.

I think we should be aiming for 7th. I think we can hit that if we keep players fit and bring our A game to most games. If we can tighten up our defensive game and have the attack of Ba, Best, HBA, Marveaux, Gutierrez, JB, Cabaye and another striker I think we'll be there. We can't have too many bad patches though, and we've gotta capitalise on Everton's typically slow start
