We're in a different era altogether now.

Their military capability is too much for any country to deal with in this day and age.

North Korea would offer no resistance on their own, they have nothing.

If the yanks were a poor opposition they'd have it on their own doorstep.

Why would it?

Would you burn your house to the ground and everything you own, to protect a homeless man from Nottingham getting a kicking?

If they did decide to stick up for nutjob Kim for whatever reason, it would only attract Israel, Saudi, Turkey, and the usual suspects. They'd not last very long when the economies are being dismantled by Trump.

On a military scale, The US has enough to take on the next 8 biggest militaries on it's own.

North Korea know we couldn't respond with nuclear weapons cause of south Korea, so they're showing off. They won't use them. They know the yanks have enough allies to launch ground troops and air attacks and obliterate them that way.
