I'm sorry to disagree, but if i wanted to watch an hour and a half of follow the leader, i would have brought myself a scalextrics set.

I do agree however that the drivers need to be on their game throughout the race, but it would be better suited to a slower form of racing ei WTCC, DTM.

All those saying don't watch if you don't like can't seriously make me believe that what they saw today was even remotely exhilarating.

Suggest you get yourself down to Monaco and experience the event for yourself before condemning the place.

There are probably other venues that may offer better racing, but Monaco is far from boring.

I have been to Monaco twice, first in 87 and again in 92, and yes it was very good, but of course back then f1 was a totally different animal.
F1 should be first and foremost about the racing, and today was far from it.

I first visited Monaco in 74 when Lauda won, as you say, F1 certainly is a different animal nowadays, but I think the lack of overtaking today was largely down to the tyre preservation issues, not even Hamilton was making any fully intentioned moves.

Monaco when it's wet has produced some amazing drives.

Maybe they should bring in Bernies artificial rain idea for one race a season.

I agree with you there. In the wet Monaco is a different kettle of fish, it's a pity they couldn't ensure it's always wet when holding it, but then again, of course these days if it's too wet they don't run at all.
I just think that one of the other classic no longer used tracks would be more suitable for this type of racing.

Personally i wouldn't mind seeing the Circuit de la Sarthe given pop.

Yes it should have a place in the calendar. Sadly today it was awful. Oh well - we move on.

Is history something to savour? Perhaps. Then again, perhaps not (see slightly off-topic asterisk).

I know what you mean and I'd love nothing more than to have my favourite circuit (Nürburgring Nordschleife) back on an F1 calendar; but if Ferrari justify special treatment (ostensibly*) for their long-term involvement, I believe Monaco warrants a place too.

*My personal belief is that Ferrari's history has been used as a rather convenient political excuse to give them more than other teams, year after year after year. I believe there is more to it than this but I cannot say so in a forum. Apologies.
