Gth is not a bad person though he obviously annoys people which is a shame. He's gutted to be so harshly and in his view unjustifiably treated though and for that I feel for him.

 

He wasn't banned for being annoying ..... he was banned for racist comments, which his own board moderators had warned him about many times.

 

Which he doesn't believe were racist and were, according to him, not meant to be taken as such and since nobody spoke to him about it before he was unceremoniously kicked out he had no chance to defend himself according to him. Seems a shame that he wasn't even challenged on it before judgement was made. Still, not our board so nothing to do with me. I'm sure his administrators did what they did with all good intention and our board members don't seem too sad about it so its all good .

 

I agree with you H. GTH was a mini WUM but since his "poll" on here his posts were far more engaging rather than simply one liner cracks at us. Some of our members were annoyed but they did have the choice to put him on "ignore" if they so chose. I am not sure about his "racist" credentials - I have seen far more near the knuckle on here when talking about the immigration issue. I had a look at the QPR board to see how bad his comments had been and frankly cannot see much wrong. We have to face it that some people are more pro or anti immigrants participating in our society and unless there is overt racism, sexism, homophobia etc I would have tried to cut a little slack. The very least I would have expected a warning yellow card to be issued - perhaps it was in private - who knows. If we are left talking to people who only share our own views it would be a very boring life. For a start I believe I hold very different views to an awful lot of people on this board but it does not prevent friendly debate. HAve we really become quite so PC and intolerant?

I have to echo your sentiments Leo, he could be irritating at times but he only wanted to provoke a reaction! It would be my guess that he didn't treat the warning from his mods seriously enough and pushed a little bit too hard.

I really don't think there is an ounce of harm in him!

I don't put people on ignore, I can decide that I don't agree with them and choose to respond or not. I didn't welcome the Bee as I had a feeling that it could be him in a wooden horse, but didn't see anything wrong on this board from him. Looking at different boards from time to time I get the feeling that I would have given up long ago as they usually have a debate that dissolves into a slanging match. WUMs usually give up if no one bites, and it is not too difficult to tell if the one liners are genuine opinions or not. Far too much PC everywhere now for my taste, but then I grew up in a generation when at home and school respect of others was taught and we didn't have to have laws written to tell us how to behave.

 

Very well said OFH, the only problem with trolls is there is always someone who can't resist the urge to bite back, all that does is feed them and they'll keep coming back for more!

QPR mods were unhappy with what they felt were the racist comments from Gimme. They spoke to him & asked him to tone down his posts. He ignored their requests so they requested a ban. The rules are if your own mods ask for the ban it becomes a board ban. Anyone who is caught returning under a different name is automatically banned. Gimme had previously received a board ban a few years ago but had already been given a second chance.

I would not normally explain all this on a different board but as Gimme returned as a Watford fan .... out of politeness I explained on here why a new Hornet fan had been banned.

 

Unfortunately gth tells a very different version of events and hasn't had a chance to be heard or to put his side of the story. Just seems unfair to me.

 

Would you like him (busy bee) back just on the Watford forum ?

I realise this is nothing to do with me, I am only a guest, but I'd like to have a say! I knew the original "GTH" when he was called AndrewQPR, and I have to say, we did not get on very well at all! When he returned after about a year of being banned, I told him I knew who he was and I would be watching, I even went as far as warning a couple of people who he was and to be careful! within a very short space of time and a few messages from him, I said OK, I'll draw a line and we can start again.

One thing you should know is he likes to get a reaction, so if you bite, he will keep it going, but at the end of the day, there is no malice intended and I find myself in the position of having taken a complete U-turn and I'm now championing his cause!
