Surely that's about clubs having cheap tickets for kids and ticket prices in general. As I've said that's a different debate entirely. Cheap tickets for "locals" is as absurd an idea now as it was on page 1 of this thread. Who's a local? Someone who's born here? Someone who has spent at least 5 years in the city? Someone who was born and raised here but now lives in Timbuktu? Someone who's at university here? Your point about local kids supporting top teams is relevant...in a place like Swansea which has had years of underachievement (no offence) but in a city like Liverpool it just doesn't factor in. Kids support Liverpool or Everton simple as
Do different counties have different rules on that? For example, I was born in Texas, lived there for maybe 3-4 years then spent the rest of my youth and adolescent life in Memphis. But Texas still would claim me as local as I was born there yet I have really no affilition with it. I consider myself to be a memphianian but I wasn't born there so am I not one? You can see how there are some tricky stuff with all the local stuff. I am not a native or local Cincinnati person but I have lived here for 3 years so I must support the NFL and MLB teams right?
So all you'd need is a letter with your name and a local postcode. So for example someone who's born and raised in Anfield and has been a Red all their lives moves a few miles out to Widnes (Cheshire postcode) he's no longer deserving right...but someone from Swindon who's at Uni here gets a cheap ticjket...is that what you're saying?? Pretty foolproof this plan of yours eh
But most certainly possible to be a fool. We thank you for your idea & contribution but as you can see, football fans are a funny bunch; we are ludicrously loyal. It's bad enough that the sponsors, TV companies & media have tried to suck the soul out of this game, now you're asking us fans to finish the job, changing clubs like we change clothes. Smaller clubs have survived because of fan loyalty when no one else cared. In this modern age of mobile populations what you suggest would destroy those clubs. There, I think you've got pretty much all the response on original subject you're going to get & I haven't see a single person agree with you. Try another board: you may have more success.
Who said it was foolproof ? It's impossible to be foolproof .
As your comments on this thread prove.
The loyal bit is highly funny its not loyal to support a bigger more successful team than your own local one , how on earth do you come to that conclusion ? Travelling miles to see a successful team is also not a mark of loyalty at all , why ? To travel with say Hartlepool your own local side and watch them play Exeter is loyal , what will these two ever clubs ever realistically win ? Your poor seasons are their most successful so its galling to say you are loyal You will probably find most fans laugh (even local fans) at to the reasons why someone from afar would support their team when they offer any other reason than they are a glory supporter ? Of course they are , why did they like them in the first place ? Bradford is big as Liverpool but you dont see 1000's fly into Bradford/Leeds to watch them on Saturdays do you ? I am not telling you who to support I am telling you no one respects it at all , few of your own even . Day trippers are the name given in Liverpool . Prawns/Surreys in Manchester . Cling ons/Glory Hunters to the rest of the Country .
Full of grammatical errors and incoherent sentences, all I seem to have got out of this is "People who travel to see away games are loyal and people who travel in to see home games are not".
So you believe that people should support their local team, even if they move away...Why are you still listed as a Saints fan when you are living in Liverpool? please log in to view this image
