Technically you are not allowed to use the term ‘wacko’. Unfit for purpose or mentally unsound is preferred. Failing that, you can go with Ape Sh*t Banana’s
Are you all deranged? At what point do you think this is a Christian festival? I can appreciate TBGWTDT's remember it properly not just once a year but the rest of you seem to think there's some underlying CofE fundamentalism going on. Only thing strange is why it's only just become a big issue. On second thoughts, maybe we should ban the national anthem due to the God bit. I'm an atheist and not excessively patriotic but can see the point of respecting war victims and don't see what line is being crossed. Enlighten me if you will?
Dens.. the collective of the Fa have the brains of a rocking horse. Hopefully i won't get sued by a rocking horse maker........
What a great point ... We all need to wise up a bit as behind every event any event there is a marketing department full of "essential " people who generally know **** all about the event and less about the audience or the real clever bastards who disguise and double disguise the real issue which is milk it ie: ... Make as money as they can and charge excessively for that skill There are thousands of good causes all of which you cannot argue with but look behind each and every one of them and you will be very alarmed I worked for Samaritans earlier this year 10 million income ... Wisely spent? ... Nope? This has been the same wherever I have worked that's a disgrace This story has been spun to cover up Terry saga like Eamon stated When asked if I have any spare change I reply " how do I know that" Knock knock? who's there Bigish bigish who? No today mate
BREAKING NEWS! Just heard on the radio that England have been granted permission to wear poppies on their black arm bands. England 1 - FIFA 0
It has never been allowed before for any Country and the reason is simple; let one do it and you have to let all do it. You can imagine some Tin-Pot Dictatorial brainwashed backwater (and no, Ireland are playing Friday not Sunday ) deciding they want to commemorate a lovely bloody massacre of some kind or other and having to be allowed because a precedent had been set. Now I know you can argue all day that its not like for like and of course you'd be right but that's not the point. Once FIFA allows sumat like this, its bringing an avalanche of crazy-ass sh*t down on top of them for years to come. They are right. They must just leave that blanket ban in place to protect the impartiality of World Soccer. Besides, what difference does it make? Can't see the fuss myself.
Brilliant - if the QPR news is right, and your right Swords, then FIFA are going to be sitting in the Sh*t for years. As FIFA has gotta be about the most corrupt "serious" organisation known to mankind, I hope they f*kkin choke to death on all that crazy-ass sh*t!
Maybe we should have a universal symbol of remembrance and respect for all people killed, maimed and bereaved as a result of the lunancy of war... and an hour's global silence to reflect on the pity of it all.
Two Premier League clubs never wore Poppys' last weekend. Eighteen clubs did. Did the media pick-up on who these two clubs are, and why they didn't? No. Putting your pound -in, and wearing a Poppy is a personal thing. You do or you don't, that's a personal choice. A choice given to you for those who fought to give you that choice. Oh, the irony of those who fought for our freedom, whether they realised it or not. Wear it with pride, if you choose to. Don't wear it, if you choose not. That's your perogative. The fact that it, has reached this level has more than diminshed its value than attained to it. Our forefathers, never realised that it would all come down to this. What was the point? Brixton ( Above ) has the point..... You can now wear your poppy on your armband! Thanks for ****all! RIP Gramps, for you knew not what what you fought for.
Coming from a large farming family I was the only one who didn't go into the services . I am mad for a start as well as other things. The family suffered as many many have ... The truth is the UK does do enough for servicemen IMO so a graphic on a shirt rubs some people up the wrong way when it's just a marketing thing However cousin Andrew who was married at the SAS camp in Hereford later ran off with the large chef ... He was from Brighton and loved flowers but had a evil streak ... Punched and decked a heffer once cause it was looking at him funny I say war what is it good for ? How much we spent ? We can't afford most services here ****ers in power Viva la France ... we need a revolution
To be fair i did read somewhere why Chelsea didn't wear a poppy (Did they wear one the week before or something, please enlighten me someone ?). But lets be honest ...it's just a bloody symbol !! It's a way for many people in Britain and a lot of the Commonwealth to remember our war dead . It's our way of showing respect. If Iran, Iraq or Saudi Arabia wanted to wear a green badge/armband or national symbol for the same purpose then i for one would give them every support to do so. There are some very good articles on the BBC about why we wear a poppy that are a very interesting read.
There was some carry on last year from the Celtic fans when the team came out with a poppy on the shirt. Protests and all sorts of things commenced. Not too pushed about it myself but as '999 said above, it being a personal thing values it more than the mass production of displaying it on everything that moves. Much ado about nothing really.
