Didn't we lose because it's the only competition in the world where away goals don't count in the event of a draw? ;-)

Also private polls are pointless. Any wind up from another team can now vote to make the poll look different.

Didn't Steve Williams have an injury going into the semifinal against Everton in 1984 which screwed him up for the rest of the season?

Two different situations. Saints had quality defensive back-up in Gardos for Alderweireld, and had all 11 on the pitch, whereas WHU were already down to 10 players and had used their 3 subs. Under such conditions Carroll could just carry on. He was almost useless but Saints weren't to know that, so they had to mark him. He could also still link play, in any case. In a defender's case, when all subs are used, the player is often sent up-field to make a nuisance of himself. This has happened once or twice in the past under these rare circumstances. So the answer is No for Toby.

Yes, clearly. If he had played on he would have made the injury worse, missed the Burnley game and would not have deflected that shot passed Fraser!!

When you think back to yesteryear when cortisone injections were rife and various other cocktails were injected at halftime to keep players on for the second half?
Thank goodness times have moved on?

If Toby doesn't sign for us and he is injured during the Man City game, leave him on and Fonte can add an extra kick just for fun #onlysaintsmatter

Carroll ruled out for the rest of the season. That's this debate put firmly to bed. Carroll and West Ham got exactly what was coming to them for being so stupid.

Yes. His knee was like a balloon during the warm up. He didn't dominate in the game and then it cost us the league title.

Sam is saying that it is a "new" injury as a result of an innocuous challenge on a Saints defender, funny I thought at the time it was a foul challenge on Yoshida.

Ah. Cheers. I did consider saying the usual apologies, but that after I hit the post button.
