Sunderland have confirmed Jack Ross' appointment. No surprise following the shenanigans over the past couple of days. What interested me though was the following quote which implied that Ross turned us down: The Sunderland chairman, Stewart Donald, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured Jack as our new manager. Jack is excited to be a part of the future we are building here, and the fact he turned down lucrative offers from elsewhere, including clubs currently in a higher division than ourselves, is testament to his commitment and desire to succeed at this club and his belief in our vision for the future." So do we think Evans offered him a deal? Seems a bit strange as media reports have stated Evans seems dead set on interviewing Paul Hurst. Either way, I think it might be a good move for Ross. Sunderland seem well-poised for a promotion challenge considering the change in ownership, eradication of their debt, loyal fanbase, and a squad that has some good youngsters coming through. Needs a clear out, but if Ross manages to get them promoted within a couple of years, his stock will rise in this country. Arguably an easier job than getting us into the top six on a small budget.
I think he means that by accepting the Sunderland jobs he has taken himself out of the running for other jobs rather than turning down concrete offers imo.
It could mean literally anything at all. But it's very unlikely that we made a formal offer because you would usually only do that when a deal was agreed in principal.
Okay okay. I am 100% sold on Hurst. It would be best for us if Shrewsbury win and he still comes to Town, on a high.
Rotherham have clearly got the better players and have been well on top. But Shrews organisation and application is first class, they've hung in there and scored a wonderful goal straight from the training ground.
Not impressed with Shrews or their style of play tbh, not convinced by any of the managers who are favs. I guess time will tell but I know one thing...it can't get any effin worse!
I thought they were rubbish for the first half hour but they werent a million miles away from pulling off a miracle given the evident lack of class. He wouldnt be my first choice but on the game today alone I think he would set us up to compete and relish the Town job.
Shrews lacked a playmaker, options up front and pace but there's not a lot Hurst could have done about that at their level.
Not really an odd choice, I just said out of the 2 managers yesterday, I felt Warned impressed me more. You called Shrews set up and application first class.....I thought they were piss poor!
