Ah, ok...damn. Well that’s me fresh out of ideas then. We must have covered every angle by now! Let’s just hope ME has a plan then...
Well... This might be absolute nonsense but would disappoint a few if it turns out to be true Now we had better hope Evans has an ace up his sleeve or that Hurst will definitely still be interested after the weekend
I would imagine Lamps asked for quite a lot of money. It would have to be more than he's being paid for TV after all. But it's not as though McCarthy was on peanuts. He must have known about the financial restrictions before he went to meet Marcus. More likely he just thought, 'this guy is full of ****'.
Jack Ross to Sunderland has been confirmed, according to some media reports. EDIT - Sky has just confirmed this. I really hope we have the Hurst deal agreed in principle, otherwise this could be one of those 'if only' moments. Seemed like a great fit for us.
Damn!Looks to be a done deal. Sunderland: Jack Ross expected to be named manager on Wednesday http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44226120
Also seen St. Mirren owner playing it down and that Sunderland haven't approached them to speak to Ross at all.
Very strange. It would be fairly typical of Town under Evans for us to appoint someone once the top ten candidates are ruled out and end up with someone like Bob Bradley
Would appear that the Sunderland approach was made without consent (illegally) from St. Mirren and probably in order to snatch him from under our noses. They'll probably be slapped with a £10 fine or something daft. If/when it's confirmed then I will happily say I don't want Ross here. That's based on what must be some pretty dodgy negotiations whilst he was away on holiday and behind the backs of the club that currently pays his wages. Given all his previous talk of the 'wonderful relationship' with the owners and those at St. Mirren it makes no sense given they clearly were not going to stand in his way as they allowed Us and Barnsley to speak with him.. It appears Sunderland have played the game and got their man.
As I've said all along he is a nobody with no track record. I don't understand what all the fuss is about.
The confusion around St Mirren and Sunderland does paint Ross in a negative light. On paper, he is the type of upcoming manager who would be a good fit for us. But if he's gone behind his club's back to source a better deal at a club like Sunderland, then we are better off without him.
It will be the same problem every time and that problem is money, sometimes you have to compete to get what you want and that's not something Evans is prepared to do, so the quality goes elsewhere and we sit here saying how understandable it is seeing how Evans got his fingers burnt blah blah. That was years ago and we have to compete in the here and now so if theres a man we particularly want then go and get him Evans, go and bloody get him!
I’m still available. Although, due to privacy issues, I can neither confirm or deny that I have been interviewed by ME
Our managers wage is probably quite competitive however I doubt the budget for playing staff is anywhere near what most men want to operate with in the Championship. We will end up with someone with no ambition who is happy to take a wage and deal with it.
Perhaps Mick will take a pay cut to come back! He's not exactly been bombarded with offers elsewhere!
It's a strange situation for the incoming man. He has an unhappy fan base to please with attacking football but will really lack the financial clout to make it easier. Bonus is he'll probably be given some time to slowly build something
We should have an open mind about Coleman. He did well at Fulham and an outstanding job for Wales. His failure at Sunderland may have had more to do with the state of the club and the players than his ability, they were in a dire situation when he came in.
