If Short had run the club better these last few years we wouldn't even have to consider selling Pickford. Despite the fact that I've said that I'd be ok with selling him if it secures our Premier League status, it pisses me off that we even have to consider selling our best prospect in years after half a season as 1st choice. By now we should be in a position where we could look forward to Pickford becoming a club legend.
Think Denayer has said he wants a permanent deal - looks worth it to me (not exactly sure but my Dad told me it'd been on Sky or something) as for Januzaj - until the second half on Saturday, I thought he was a completely pointless player. No drive, nothing for us. Then he moved into the middle second half on Saturday and was excellent! Manquillo is a waste of a space - nothing against the player in general as he's an OK full back - but Love and Jones (amazingly) have been playing well at right back so we'd surely be better off playing them and it's no good for an Atletico player sitting on our bench (think I'm re-trotting what someone else said there but it's certainly true)
I'd take Denayer permanently but I think he's valued at ten million and that's three or four too many for me even given today's prices.
Maybe so - not sure exactly but his worth to us in general is £10m IMO - knows the setup, knows the players and is good enough for the team - a tried and tested player who can play in that position would be pretty expensive - an untested one was!! Think he'll remain on loan until the end of the season - but I guess, with city being super-rich, that £10m can be structured over 2 or 3 seasons (no idea how it works TBH!)
Definitely keep him on loan for this season he's been pretty good, him and Ndong have a lot of energy and aren't bad in the tackle. I don't think City will want him back particularly so I reckon about seven mil spread over the next thousand years might do them.
It's why I like Cattermole, with those shorts riding high you could really see everything tackle related. He loves a good tackle himself, bit too much some say. Referees seemed to take offence at it.
Oh aye I know I'm coming from a glorious hypothetical alternate reality where Sunderland aren't inexplicably broke. as. ****.
Denayer was a bit out of sorts at first but seems to be settling in and showing his worth, i like him and reckon he will get stronger the more he plays. Not sure what will happen when Catts and the Hoff come back, but reckon we'll keep him on loan till the summer then maybe buy him, depending on cost obviously.
