He's so slow it looks like he can't be arsed. Doesn't look fit either. Bit of a waste really.

    <laugh> **** you!

Ameobi holds the ball up well to allow other players into the games. If we were playing it along the floor all the time a bit like what we were doing in the 2nd half then Shola is useless but when we are playing more direct like in the first half and against Man U then Shola is good at winning the ball, holding it up and passing it on to another player and getting them into the attack. Shola has two assist in the last two games so you can't complain that much.

I am not saying Shola is good or anything, just that he is not complete crap, and I do not think he is any worse than Best.

honestly, he must impress Pardew so much in training to get on the team sheet
that by the time the game comes along he's totally ****ed, lazy twat
I had seen Best run 40 yards tracking back win the ball, laid it off and then run another 40 yards to
recieve the pass back - that to me is putting the work in

But who CAN'T do that? Any half-decent Premier League player can. The logic just makes no sense.

    Any decent striker:

    Speed: Decent
    Shooting: Decent
    Passing: Decent
    Creativity: Decent
    Holding up play: Decent

    Shola:

    Speed: ****
    Shooting: ****
    Passing: ****
    Creativity: ****
    Holding up play: Decent

So why on earth would you sweep aside everything else and just focus on the SINGLE thing he can do decently, which in fact most other players can do too?
Have you forgot that Shola is a striker? Let's look at the definition of a striker:

Shola is there, as a striker, to attack and score goals. He doesn't do either of them. How about we judge him primarily on what he's on the pitch for in the first place, yeah?

I agree with what you said like .. he is not a premiership player .. im not one of the ones to constantly stick up for him but i do think when he's on his game he is a good finisher .. but the rest of his game is just woeful. iv'e said it in another thread as well that i actually hope he's got a little injury so that he can have an excuse for his lazy, lazy performance. (even for his standards)

I have said numerous times that I am not saying he is a good striker, I am just saying to the people who are saying he is complete crap that he can do something. And while other strikers can hold the ball up as well, do we have anyone else available apart from Shola? Ba is away, Lova can't, Best can a bit but goes missing for large periods of the game.

Well wingers are there primarily to set up goals but Jonas does not get that many assists and yet he is a very important player for us because of the other stuff he does. Again I am not saying Shola is good but he does bring other players into play by holding the ball up or flicking it on and this has resulted in setting up two important goals in the last two matches.

Today Ameobi did have flashes of brilliance. He went on a run near the end that could have done something and got frequent good touches.

And yet at the same time he made no effort whatsoever to put the ball that Best rolled across for him into what was an empty net.

Shola Ameobi: the greatest argument for Erdinc ever.
