TWF - Fans don't influence or affect a teams performance? seriously? I'm sure if your opinion on football was at all credible it isn't anymore. You've clearly never played a sport infront of a crowd or performed on a stage. if you had you would have a clear understanding of how a crowd can affect mentality! giving you confidence, or affecting your nerves as you try too hard not to screw up. As we have a young team, we should be boosting there confident with support, as I'm sure in training they've a brilliant first touch, perfect passing ability and are constantly smashing them in from 35yards. Fans make the atmosphere, and should make it comfortable and supportive for are team and intimidating and uncomfortable for the opposition. Thus creating some level of home advantage.
I said they have a minimal effect compared to the effect they have on the crowd. Hmm, when you're performing it's comforting to get a decent reaction from the crowd, but you have to do something to get that reaction first. First of all, I don't buy the age thing, if you're not good enough you shouldn't be playing. As for the training thing, if they can do it in training with no crowd then why can't they do it in front of a silent crowd? Indeed, fans make the atmosphere, but it's up to the players to motivate them to do that. The football we've playing this season just makes people want to sit down or leave.
couldn't have put it better myself.. a pat on the back for you and a kick in the bollox for tony warner's mug
This whole the team should get the crowd going is getting old. Sitting and waiting for the team to prove themselves to you. the best matches I've been to the stadium has been rocking b4 a ball has been kicked! funny enough, on those occasions it's been followed by a good performance, weird that. As for your ridiculous training comment, thats like singing in front of your firends in your bedroom is the same as singing in a hall filled with strangers sitting silently expecting you to entertain them. even you cant deny you wouldnt get that god awful gut feeling. Nerves are part of been human. But if your mates were in the corner of that hall screaming louder than everyone, whistling and going crazy. You bet your arse you'd give it a bloody good go! Sport....football.....its pretty much the same thing.
Conversely, this whole the crowd should get the team going is getting old. The atmosphere was better than usual before the Norwich game, but the football being played just sucked the life out the stadium completely. The football being played isn't something that goes with a good atmosphere, and as the team don't seem responsive to a bit of noise people aren't going to carry on doing it.
Before a ball has been kicked the banter this season on a good few games between e1 /e2 and the away fans have been a laugh.then all that bollocks welcome to the kc stadium blaring out drowning any chance of carrying it on as most just give up.And the elvis song has to go its to slow its fine during the game but not at the start it like sets the tempo of the game.Next season we have to bring back the unresearved seating get like minded fans stood/sat together again too many times this season and the prem mates meeting up before the game having a few beers then walking down to the game in high spirits only to go to diffrent parts of the ground sat with some nob that just spends the whole game slagging the team off.
Based on "Twf'y Logic" it's pointless having fans attend home matches, as they are not being entertained, so let's just have them played behind closed doors that will solve the problem!!!
Poor TWF doesn't understand football at all, we don't have the players to play outstanding football and there was never a team in the world who did well with no vocal support from the fans. As for Bullard coming back, if the guy was 25 then I'd be saying give him a go, as it is he's mid-thirties and if we get any money for him now or get him off the books it would be the best thing that happened to the club for years.
Just getting him off the books would be worth in the region of ã5 million, which could/would be spent better on squad improvements, than going in his pocket!!
