I'm not sure how it works next season. is it still 4 teams that make it? or do we get 5 if we win Europa?
Yes, but City are an oil state owned club, in all but name. UEFA does nothing about them and their ludicrous incestuous sponsorship deals, either.
As I have said, world class players, like Bale and Modric want to be on the world's biggest stages, playing for the top trophies. We can't provide that stage. clubs like Real, can. Of course it's always the top players that go, they're the ones who attract the very top clubs. If we showed even the merest hint of an ambition to get our club on to that stage, then you might, just might have a chance of persuading those kind of players to stay. As things stand, no chance!.
that is my point...we don't have ambition like we need...hence every season being a re building process.
I think theres a difference between ambition and being realistic as I'm all for showing ambition but lets see if we can get back in the top four before we start thinking about getting to a stage where we can keep players like Bale as its looking like another year of finishing outside the top four (judging by the strength of our rivals next year).
"Yes, but City are an oil state owned club, in all but name. UEFA does nothing about them and their ludicrous incestuous sponsorship deals, either." TBH, I don't really care about the Sugga Daddy FCs on this. I see their situation as a reason for Spurs to achieve in spite of.
I'd rather we assemble a "team" of decent players, where we won't find ourselves massively handicapped if they are sold/injured. - Our problem for some time has been 2 or 3 borderline world class players out of 11 carrying lots of average-quite good players each week. Now they've been sold, we've struggled. We need to keep Eriksen, Vertonghen and Lloris and build around them. - Even if it means that we sign a couple of older players that don't fit Levy's "resale value" business model. Sometimes an older player with a big name can be money well spent. Why on earth we didn't pay the £4m or what ever it was for David Villa last summer, is beyond me. That one should have been wrapped up as early as possible. So, as an example, This summer we should be looking to get Ashley Cole if we can, even if it's for a year. Class is permanent and despite Cole being a muppet off the pitch, he's still one of the best left backs in world football. Then, at the same time, our other young signings can continue to bed in around some experienced talent, and the academy players can hope to get a look in at times too, such as in the FA or capital one cups.
Spurs lack leadership, we have some real talent in the squad. We need a John Terry type at the back or a Roy Keane in midfield.
BBC are reporting that we are in 'advanced' negotiations with Poch. There we go, cheapskate Levy trying to employ another useless ****er. Bottom of the league in Spain (which is equivalent of bottom of the championship in England) then lucking on the best youth players in Europe to make him look good at Southampton. **** me, most of the posters on here could do better. What a **** Levy is. If you gave the **** 10 billion pounds to spend he'd still find a way of ****ing it up.
If we employ that useless twat I'll start a bring back Sherwood campaign. Levy might as well come out and wear a red and white shirt.
