    Read above edited post <ok>

I think Rodgers has changed a little bit towards his 'style' and is fine with occasionally mixing it up.

  2. Unless having Gerrard has opened his eyes to a better tweaked version?

Whichever way you look at it, he needs time to get things how he wants so I guess it works out for the best anyway.

You may as well have kept Dalglish there if that was the plan.

  5. Not really as we wanted a long term plan, Kenny was never a long term option.

    Rodgers.

And if Brendan couldn't find a place for one of the best players in British history then I'd worry greatly about him and his abilities to do the job properly. Thankfully he isn't an idiot like you and he knows Gerrard is the type of player you build a team around. Gerrard is capable of playing in numerous positions and altering his style to suit the need of a particular game. He's played on the wing, he's played as a holding midfielder, he's played as a deep lying midfielder controlling the pace of the game, he's played as a goalscoring attacking midfielder and he's played as a right back in a champions league final. And you're questioning his ability to play passing football despite him proving that he is capable of playing almost any role over the last 10-15 years? Absolute madness.

So you reckon that Rodgers is trying to build a team around a player who in his time Was one of the best of his generation .He's had his best days and to say otherwise is putting your head in the sand .How many years does Gerrard have left at this level ? because he is only on a downward slope now which there's nothing he or nature can do otherwise .

So you can't discuss football without reverting to personal insults. Only one idiot on here pal and it ain't me. I'll leave your board in peace now so you can carry on peddling your narrow minded out of date views. Have fun.

How can you build a team and new implemention style based around a player who has a year or two left. Gerrard was pants up until Xmas, as he couldn't handle BR style of play, thus the style of play was changed to accomodate Gerrard.

Of course he was rubbish. There were even several posters on here saying that Brendan was afraid to drop him. For a while Allen was playing well. As soon as Rodgers changed the style to accomodate Gerrard, Allen suffered.

  12. The posters saying he needed to be dropped were basing it on the previous two seasons too, I was one of them!

Gerrard was incredible last year but actually dipped towards the end of the season.

Of course he became very good, but that is becaues Rodgers had to change his style of play to fit him in.

Stopped the all out passing game we did. Gerrard got better at the first system and was much more comfortable in the second. But he could now play both to a reasonable standard I imagine.

Allen suffered due to injury and loss if confidence.

The style changed to maximise the threat of Sturrrude, yes, Courinho, yes. Pace, counter-attack. But even before that Rodgers gave Gerrard license to start stacks with balls direct to Suarez or to the fullbacks.

Read back to the origin of this argument I have not. A comparison between Gerrard and Shelvey I hope not to find.

I thought he was decent at start of the season aswell tbh but clearly improved as the season went on. Allen played better than him in like 1 game lol and we didnt win it either

We played better last season when Shelvey and Allen didn't play.

For the first 6 or so games Allen was great.

Needs to rediscover that confidence and energy.

You won't find one, as we all know Shelvey is far superior in every department ;)

He has actually looked quite good in pre season, in an advanced role too. People bang on about his first 6 games last season, but for me his best performances came against Sunderland and QPR after xmas last season... also in an advanced role.

Then the Manc game was after that. <doh>

    Maybe when he's out shopping.

Very true... He had a goal disallowed in one didn't he?
