He's from Romford. Suspended. Swansea are away in Tranmere. He's probably visiting family and friends for the weekend. Going to speak to West Ham was probably not top of his agenda when he travelled down the M4 - so that petrol would have been spent regardless. So he's in the area, why not pop in? My original comment was tongue in cheek (apart from the "not fussed if he's leaving us" bit), but what's been said behind closed doors, nobody knows.

Let's hope because it's not like he's going to get any worse. Still young & experienced. I quite like him as a player, like it or not he does posses some gerrardesque passing. Needs to work tactically and physically now.

I really hope you are wrong. He has not played well at all this season, he appears disinterested, his passing is awful, his tackling is dreadful and his positioning is worse. On top of that he totally ignores Monk's instructions on the pitch and sticks a metaphorical V sign up to the manager through his performance after being told publicly to sort himself out.
The sooner we shift him on and he's replaced by a grown up the better.

I have heard rumours that Shelvey will be going if there is a sensible offer for him - allegedly, he is a disruptive influence on the training ground.

Not sure if this "gossip" is accurate, but it is potentially believable.

If we get an offer around £7-£10 million, I'd sell him and use the money to either by Carroll or Jonny Williams. I'd also like to see us by George Williams too.

Don't be so naive - he got a call because Monk was pushing and he'd been a Liverpool player. He was notable by his absence on the pitch and hasn't had a recall.

How much do you really know about football and the swans especially...Naive he got a call because of monk <laugh> ( now this is a definite quote of the week) and a very good understanding at the level of knowledge you possess. Priceless .....Please give us all more gems like this as i could not stop laughing at the stupidity of it and the realisation that there are some out there actually believe this crap..<laugh>

I don't look into the Shelvey England call up. He wasn't used on the pitch against 2 poor teams (San Marino and Estonia), and that kind of shows how much they rate him. Monk had been calling for one of the English Swansea boys to get a call up, Routledge was playing out of his skin at that time and deserved the call up more than Shelvey. They called up Shelvey because he was a safe bet - he's part of the U-21 set up and knows some of the boys in the senior team from his Liverpool days. The fact he couldn't get a game even off the bench against San Marino says all I need to know.

I don't claim to be an expert but, from some of the posts you make, I'd say a a hell of a lot more than you.

I love the irony of Monk wanting to get rid of a player for being, 'a disruptive influence on the training ground.'

I've heard similar Taff, disruptive in the sense that he's physically lazy in training, always last to get anywhere unless when playing a training game when he bucks up.

Another thing I've heard is that he's, allegedly, put on weight, over a stone, since the summer and the dietitians are up in arms over his poor eating habits.

Imo only, I think his problems began when Siggy signed and Ki returned.

Ki on his return was made to feel a part of our future and signed a new contract giving Shelvey some competition which, imo, put Shelvey's nose out a bit (just my hunch).

Add to this Siggy's arrival, with all his consummate skill. This, imo, effectively pushed Shelvey further back, mentally and literally, over halfway in the teams make up. Here he's been forced to play out of position as a pseudo DM even though his talents favour a more attacking role. Unfortunately for Shelvey AM is where Siggy lives so its no go for him there, his preferred position.

Add Leons return also to the team and Shelvey can see his area of influence in midfield shrinking to a point where he simply has no room, no where, to play his game any more.

Imo this is why we are currently getting 'attitude' from him. In his head he is a top midfielder, a playmaker but in reality he's lost his role in team as well as his confidence as a player. I dont think, hope I'm wrong, he has the character to fight for his place and to win his mojo back. First offer must be considered, imo in shelveys head, he's already left.
