It just shows what utter clowns we have making these decisions. Charnley the tea boy should be lynched for paying that out. Shelvey is worth no more than 5-6 million.
Funny, isn't it? When Ashley held the purse strings they were tighter than a nuns habit. Gives it to Charnley and we're now looking at £12m each for Thauvin, Mitrovic and now Shelvey. I know the going rate has gone up, but we are being taken to the cleaners with alarming regularity.
Like I say I think its a start if we get Saviet (replacement for Tiote?) and Shelvey (replacement for Sissoko?) for 16mil odd I won't complain as long as they get a striker (Austin) and a CB (Koulibaly) in as well, people may say that's crazy talk but they where talking of £150 mil spend over three windows in the summer (see the link), so not impossible. The less colback the better, as far as I'm concerned. Maybe Brolly isn't such a numpty after all, if hes realised our central midfield just isn't premier league quality and hasn't been since Cabaye left.

Sometimes i think Newcastle fans have been so dumbed down by Ashley and co, that they don't realise that Player Transfer Fees and Wages have stepped up a notch or two. With the Prize/TV Money due this summer and the £100m minimum in summer of 2017, its a case of pay the going rate, or sink in the mire. The club can afford it, so they NEED to pay the money, especially for PL experience. Alternatively, Penfold could continue shopping at the corner shop or stick with what we've already got.

Who gives a toss what he costs.................... it aint our money. It will only be ****ed away on mediocre French 'prospects' if its not spent on a proven PL player anyway. Its not as if we can attract any real quality anymore. Players that have anything about them would choose most other PL clubs over this ****ing debacle. Its unpalatable................ but its a fact chaps.
Always liked Jonjo but always seems to fall just short. Was the next big thing when he joined us and put in some promising performances before regressing. Same for England and Swansea too. Hope he joins you guys and gives both himself and the club a much needed boost.
