How has this taken so long to come out. Surely it would have been reported to officials immediately after the game by the player involved. Why would he call somebody a black so and so when he plays with a good number of them.
It's a 4 game ban as standard. That's what everyone else who has been banned for racism has been given. Stupid boy he is. I don't believe any of these footballers that have been banned are racists at heart, just said stupid things and it's just more about educating so those kind of comments don't come naturally
Ask John Terry. To be fair, it's probably stupidity, allowing yourself to get wound up by your opponent, and a desire to get under someone's skin in the heat of the moment, rather than true racism?
Heat of the moment.. footballers aren't known for their intellect. Highly doubt he's a racist because as you say, obviously plays and gets on with many black and other ethnic players, but wouldn't be the first to throw an off the cuff comment if he's angry (he's clearly got temperament issues)
Taking nearly 2 months to come to light, this is dubious to say the least, plus I can't help feeling that the FA are trying to make a example of someone with these new charges and throw their weight around. If he's guilty he's guilty, but we really need him right now.
If guilty he deserves what he get's! Will be interesting to see if it affects Rafa's formation while he's suspended (if he's suspended) as we don't have a similar play maker in the squad. Could see Hayden and Colback holding with Gayle and Mitro up front in a 4-4-2 formation?
It appears that a WOLVES team mate is responsible for reporting Shelvey not the Morrocan player in question. Still doesn't explain the delay in it being reported.
Hard to know what to make of this without context. Things get said in the heat of the moment but if it is racist then he deserves the punishment he will receive - I believe this is a 5 match ban by the rulebook? The good thing is if it was a racist comment that it has been reported and acted upon. Ironically the beneficiary will likely be the guy who was being sent off in the same minute - Vurnon Anita. I assume he will likely get a run in that role as the only player really capable of playing that role barring a formation change.
so it's a third party accusation of something the third party overheard ? It's his word against Shelvey's , hardly convincing though if this was such a serious case why didn't Wolves protest against Shelvey playing against them only 3 days later in the cup game
Are we saying this happened in the same minute because after that tackle Shelvey was on his own for the majority of the time as all the Wolves players were around the incident Shelvey had just walked away check video form 2:58
the thing is, why didn't the third party protest to the ref at the time ?? that's what you would think people would do there was nobody having a go at Shelvey or confronting him about it it just seems very strange
When it says the same minute I suppose it may not be related to the incident? Is it the moroccan lad Anita challenged?
If Shelvey was racist and the club knew he was I'm sure Benitez wouldn't have kept playing him, at worst might have said something uneducated in the heat of the moment. From the little bits we do know there does seem to be doubt about it but let's not forget we don't know all the facts and he is banned that he's let everyone at the club down.
