The odd thing is we have been standing off the opposition for years. I don't get it. We go ahead and then try to defend. If Slade can't see a problem with these tactics he shouldn't be here. But of course we knew that already.

Slade is severely limited tactically, and has regularly failed to adapt his side to counter changes made by the opposition.

When Wednesday came out for the second half, they'd mixed it up by putting Samedo on as a holding midfield player and to add some grunt. We were losing possession in the middle of the park and they started to take control. The game was crying out on the hour for some additional firepower in midfield to counter it and the only answer that Slade could come up with was to change a striker for another striker. Adeyemi was the man for the time, not Revell on for Doyle.

The 4-4-2 system is ingrained on Slade's brain - the only difference Slade has worked out is to switch the flat middle 4 to a diamond. We played much better against a far better side in Derby with a 5 man midfield but the lesson has not been learned.

The addition of Doyle as well as Revell to the squad makes me fear for the immediate future. Not because Doyle isn't any good, it's just that with Jones putting the goals away as well, Slade will play 2 of those and pursue a 4-4-2 setup at the expense of common sense.
