Gunn is a good keeper at our level, it shows both this year and last how many more goals we concede when he is injured* I think he provides confidence to the back four. Whatever someone might think of his ability Gunn is a good shot stopper and more often than not gets his angles right providing confidence to the defence. *Now it may be that his injuries coincide with when we have lots of injuries elsewhere and that is why Long concedes more
The Sports Gambler website at https://www.sportsgambler.com/injuries/football/england-championship/ lists current injuries and suspensions by club. Currently, the average no. of injuries/suspensions is 5 (range 2 to 9), 5 also being the median. Three clubs, Burnley, Sunderland and ourselves, are listed as having 9 (Brad Hills is omitted for some reason). Hull have 8 missing, and Bristol City 7. There is no attempt to rate absentees in terms of their importance to the team; so, for example, while Leeds only have 3 missing, the three are Ramazani, Gruev and Ampadu, i.e. significant absentees. I guess the fact that Burnley and Sunderland are coping better than us despite being equally badly hit numerically, is just a reflection of the stage we are at in our rebuild.
