So here we go with our second league game of the season. Still loads of uncertainty around the club, the players and the new head coach.
Sheffield Wednesday are supporting all of the Championship teams currently despite winning last week as they started the season with -12 points. They are now under the guidance of Gary Monk, who has been around a bit, but has had some success.
But fresh from watching Wednesday beat Cardiff City and Rochdale on the road, Monk is convinced the Owls can quickly turn their home fortunes around.

Monk, who is still without defensive duo Chey Dunkley and Osaze Urhoghide, told Yorkshire Live: "As much as I can’t forget last season and understand it, the mentality is a fresh start. What has gone has gone. We are trying to look forward and be positive.

"We are in a season where it is one of the most difficult seasons the club has faced in many, many years.

Down in Hertfordshire we are still awaiting news of players who want to leave, but don't have a club to go to, others who we might like to stay, but are not sure if the club can afford to pay them, and a coach who seemingly is waiting some days to see who might be available. He has said he needs a left back, logical as we don't appear to have one, and a central midfielder. Wednesday had a dreadful home record last season only winning once at home since the beginning of the year, so with them also being short on available players maybe it is a good time to play them.

They will be going for the win so hopefully we might have Sarr or Suarez back but maybe not I suspect.

We do need to keep the ball better and pose more of a threat up front.

    Cheers for the thread OFH.

Never realised they'd had a points deduction, don't look at the table to after ten games either.

Does FF still play for them? Or was he realised and was training with us?

What about our LB that went there? Pudil, was he? Does he still play for them?

It's going to be another revealing line up from us on Sat I guess.

Did a bit of research - Pudil is long gone:
    Sheffield Wednesday[edit]
On 29 August 2015, Pudil signed for Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan deal. He scored his first goal for Sheffield Wednesday in a 3–1 win over Preston North End on 3 October 2015.[18] Pudil completed a permanent move to Wednesday on 28 July 2016 for £1,500,000.[19] He was released by Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the 2018–19 season.[20]
    Mladá Boleslav[edit]
After his release from Sheffield Wednesday in July 2019, he signed for Czech side Mladá Boleslav on a two-year deal.[21]
    Viktoria Žižkov[edit]
Pudil signed for Czech side Viktoria Žižkov on a one-year deal for free.[22]

And FF is back at Udinese according to Wiki:
    Return to Udinese[edit]
On 8 September 2020, Forestieri agreed a return to Udinese on a two-year deal

Yes he had a trial with us earlier in the summer.

    What happened to Abdi?

Seemed to be wasted at Hillsboro

Too many injuries I think. He left them the season before last and doesn't appear to have played since.

Planar fasciitis is a really nasty thing, which was Abdi's problem. Mrs Fez suffers and has curtailed her golfing exploits over the past few years :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Looks like we have an Australian referee tomorrow - Jarred Gillett. Wednesday aren't too enthused, he refereed their home game against Blackburn last season - sent off one of their players and they ended up losing 0-5. Here's hoping...

He's very good. Think you can find a utube clip of him mike'ed up back in Australia. Think he has already refereed in the Prem as well.

Yes - I watched his final A League match live - Brisbane v Melbourne Victory - very good ref.
Nearly changed my mind in August last year though - he was the VAR for our home defeat by Wet Spam.

Bit late now, but I did think at the time that the ref we had against Boro was decent.

Is it my imagination but are players arguing with refs less now that there are no spectators?

Good afternoon all on this lovely autumn day, we have had 3 days which would have done mid summer proud.

Seems like Dawson is starting for Wednesday so if we sub him, he just has to change shirts? <confused>:emoticon-0105-wink:
