Sheffield Wednesday v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Hillsborough Kick off - 3pm Date - 9 November 2019 Following their late ‘smash and grab’ victory away at Wigan, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is another tough looking away match, this time at fellow promotion rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, and to give added spice to an already tasty looking fixture, the Owls are managed by former Swans Captain and ex-Manager, Garry Monk. Against Wigan, Sam Surridge's late header snatched victory for Swansea City in last Saturday's early kick-off. Connor Roberts picked out fellow substitute Surridge for a goal that put Swansea top for a short time - they eventually remained in 4th position. Swansea had led when Nathan Dyer curled a shot into the far corner after being picked out by Bersant Celina. Kieffer Moore's penalty, after Mike van der Hoorn tugged Chey Dunkley's shirt, looked to have rescued a point until Surridge's injury-time strike. On the same day that the Swans gear Wigan, Blackburn scored twice in the final three minutes as John Buckley's first senior goal gave them victory over Sheffield Wednesday in a thrilling finale at Ewood Park. Jacob Murphy thought he had earned the Owls all three points with just seven minutes remaining, nodding home from close range after Steven Fletcher's header hit the bar. But Tosin Adarabioyo's looping header drew Rovers level five minutes later before 20-year-old midfielder Buckley's deflected shot ended Blackburn's six-game win drought. Wednesday could have snatched a point in stoppage time but Fernando Forestieri hit the bar and Sam Hutchinson's follow-up was superbly saved by Rovers keeper Christian Walton. As a consequence, the Owls fell to 7th in the table. Turning to Saturday, I think that the Swans will maintain their unbeaten record and come away with a hard fought for point. 1-1
I'd love a point and a continuation of the away run but have a feeling Wednesday will just shade it by the odd goal so going for a 2-1 defeat BUT I hope I am wrong.
Draw would be a good result but if we keep up our impressive away form then why not a lovely 0 - 1 and three points.
Gary Monk will score somehow anyway. Even if it is cancelled the pools panel will have it as a score draw with Monk scoring the equaliser.
Game on “Swansea City's Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday is set to go ahead, despite flooding around the Owls' Hillsborough Stadium.”
