I mostly listened to Radio Sheffield, who thought our left side, and Wagstaff in particular, was the only threat posed to them.
Have seen plenty of Powell getting the team to sit back on a lead. It worked well in League 1. While Wednesday are mostly a League 1 team, the point is that it won't always work in the Championship.
Good point it's a CP trait to sit on a lead works very well away hence our excellent away form but at home it can lead to disaster as it did yesterday my ratings are

Wilson needs some shooting practice. Two or three times yesterday he was one on one with Kirkland and crossed into the defensive pack in the hope that someone (Kermorgant or Jackson both out numbered) could get a toe to it. If he had worked the keeper there might have been a chance of it going in or the aforementioned pair picking up on a parry by Kirkland.
kermorgant worked his socks off for the team yesterday and waggy posed a threat and was unlucky on more than one occasion. stevens had one of his off days and the big units in their defence crunched Pritchard. The team will be bruised both physically and mentally by yesterday and we have to hope that the good doctor will shoulder some of the blame and administer a stirring talk to get them back for crippled alice.

Yes it was a physical match against some thumping big bruisers in defence, but we should have bought on Cort for Taylor who was carrying a bit of a knock for the last twenty and Dervite for Stevens who wasnt having much luck.
We have to dust ourselves down from this one and go to sellout park with some belief and memory of what we did to Watford four and a half weeks before.

Wednesday wanted it far more than us and won most of the 50:50 balls in midfield, Pritchard ran around a lot in midfield but once he got it he decided he was Messi and tried to dribble past 2 or 3 Wednesday players.... he didn't.......and lost the ball countless times BUT he wasn't helped by the rest of our midfield not showing for him. Stephens seemed to rotate between good considered passing and Sunday morning park passing...one through ball to Waggy who was free down the left was awful! massively over hit and went out for a goal kick.
The first half should have finished 1-2 with us hitting the bar and Wednesday missing two easy chances, the header from an unmarked Gardener at the back post and the open goal that was put wide. The second half we did lose 1-2 because it seemed that Wednesday wanted it more than us.... if you looked at the two benches then Wednesday had six players they could bring on to change a game (excluding goalkeepers) but we did not have a centre mid on the bench other than a centre back who can play CM.
Let's not fool ourselves..... Wednesday were the better team all over the park.... if there were stats I can't help feeling that we played far far more long balls to Kermit than Wednesday did who tried to play most of their possession to Antonio.

The team goal, as MikeT says, was superb. But other than that, and one good move in the first half down the right, we lumped it.
The "team goal" was, I think, the only time Hamer rolled the ball out. And I wish we'd give up lumping free kicks towards the box from anywhere near the centre circle. It NEVER troubles defences. I know Kermit works his socks off, but playing 4-5-1 with Kermit means Fuller is totally wasted, and he is the most likely to supply something different on the deck.
And still no praise for wagstaff...yes I must of been at a different game BUT all about opinions ain't it.
Weds are are horrible team cynical fouls throughout and possibly a straight red offence on Stephens after 4 mins.
Litta ran at us when he came on and made a difference but for the most part I thought weds lumped it at every opportunity.
I just hope that as ever Waggy may be the scapegoat as he always seems to be.
If everyone matched his and pritchards work rate we'd be fine.

Waggy was probably our best player but was probably a 7.5 so that says a lot about the rest of the team! Yes Pritchard's work rate was good but his skill level was probably League 1 yesterday (with the exception of the pass for the goal which was good)

I think Wagstaff justified his place in the team yesterday and agree that his work rate was as high as that of Kermorgant and Pritchard.
Kish, on your basis with two shots, one hitting the woodwork and on going just wide, you could argue that Wagstaff was a percentage above the others yesterday who didn't go anywhere near apart from Jacko's team goal. Stephens had a couple in row k, so his percentage must be worse. Kermo although he worked his socks off was never in space. Never try to play with statistics!!! At least he had a couple of efforts on goal which is more than can be said for others.

I thought Dervite as going to come on, he had his top stripped off and was warming up. It seemed a sensible move but for some reason didn't happen.
i thought dervite should have come on for jacko on about the 65th min. our centre midfield was the problem again. this time it was just that they were tired. their centre mid's just ran past ours.
with no recognised centre midfielder on the bench i can understand why CP didnt make changes, but, he should have. our players were too leggy and half a yard off the pace towards the end of the match

Me neither, SuperC. I feel worse than after 'Boro beat us 4-1. I can't remember much about the first half, it was like a pub game, but to see our midfield getting muscled off the ball so often in the second half is demoralising. The ref had a good game so we can't even blame him.
I must say I often see a different game to others... And I admit I'm abit of a waggyophile...sounds like an arrest able offence TBH.
I'm old school charlton from back in the day and love seeing players give their all for the cause hence Waggy and Pritchard solly Kermo all old school.
The wagstaff effort that hit the post was a tremendous effort and self made.
7.5 is a bit harsh and I HATE Wednesday too and got banned from owls talk last season I'm proud to say
