As usual pretty much agree except I can't see how Poveda scores more than Costa? Poveda will be a good player but needs to learn when to pick a pass and needs a bit more body strength for me. Costa not as hot as the previous two games but think he must be a nightmare to play against.
Agreed. To be fair to Costa, he was playing wingback, which must be his ultimate nightmare, as he can't defend to save himself. Poveda is in pretty much the same. But one played 60 mins, the other 30. Does that mean that Poveda played twice as well as Costa to receive the same scores? I don't think so! I find it hilarious sometimes that people can score a sub as an 8 or 9, yet they played only 20 mins or so. Disrespectful to those that are being scored on their consistency over the 90 mins, imo.

Not sure I agree with all of that, think 64 is usually pretty on the money with his assessments (or rather I tend to agree with him which may mean they are rubbish ) - was just interested in the scores between the 2 - didn't have Costa down as being particularly poor but then didn't see Poveda do anything overly impressive either.
Hi boss, hope Ben & Jan are all well. Mrs WJ is too. It's not a personal thing, btw - it's a general comment on assessments. Happens even in the press (who should know better). Are we really saying that someone who comes on for 15 minutes contributes more to a game in that 15 minutes than the person he's replaced did in 75? Well I guess on occasion that is true, á la supersubs. However generally, (& this Costa / Poveda example highlights it for me,) it's not the case. Poveda's contribution perhaps hit the heights of Costa's, but he only needed to be consistent over 30 mins to achieve that grading, whereas Costa managed that level for 60 mins. I therefore think it's unfair to mark subs as though they'd played the full 90 mins, as in Poveda's case. No way did he eclipse Costa in any way. And Costa should also be marked down as he's only played for 60 mins, not 90. FFS, I don't know why I'm rambling about this. Not that important, is it? Wish we were playing our next game. Every day I'm like a kid on Xmas Eve. Will prolly be like that until we take a couple of hammerings in a row. Which will be never, I hope.
