Good result... Hopefully onwards and upwards now! Wish I could've gone tonight... Sounded like an entertaining match and a well deserved win. Shame about other late goals going in but we'll take that.
Skuse was fantastic tonight, as was Sears, Parr was also excellent when he came on, the scoreline was close but make no mistake we were good tonight, the change was required and result delivered. Still well in the play off picture after that, let's hope MM doesn't go back in his shell on Saturday. Only gripe is Chambers still at RB. Wednesday put everything down our right side tonight, they did get in behind us a few times, on another night we could have conceded from one of those attacks, I still think we would be better with Parr at RB. Problem is all three CBs have lost a bit of form, it is a conundrum for MM, probably why he is sticking rather than risking a twist!
Hoppers-Parr was on from the start,Skuse was "OK",Berra was his usual rock like self and Chambers only chipped in with the winner!Apart from that your assessment was spot on
Sounds like we had more balance tonight what we've all been calling for. It also sounded like Skuse actually stepped up to the plate and decided to try and have an influence on the game when we had the ball, more of that please. Sounded like Murphy and Sears make a far more balanced partnership than McGoldrick and Murphy.
Sorry Al my mistake, Mings came in and Parr moved to Left side midfield! Skuse was ok.....that is an understatement.....did you not see him have a shot, get to the by line and put in a dangerous cross, how many times did he break up play and also make forward passes, by Skuse standards he was immense! Berra was not part at fault for their goal then? Chambers got the winner and that was fantastic....BUT HE IS NOT A RB, his first three touches of the game; 1 blocked hoof down field 2 blocked clearance 3 tame header out for a throw cos he got himself into trouble! ****ing Chambers is a CB, not RB. Edit....I was a bit drunk when I wrote this!
Hoppers-agree with you Chambers best position is CB which is why l'm not the only one who thinks 5:3:2 might be our best formation, still not many proper fullbacks would have buried that header with such force! Drinking on a school night...tut,tut.
It did sound like Skuse played much better, so there is an attack minded CM in there somewhere, long may it continue! Just wish Mick would try the 3 at the back but cant see it happening. How did Ambrose play? Do you guys think we may have to play Bish RM, with Bru/Skuse CM and Parr LM? Really pleased but have a horrible feeling Mick may bring Tabb/ Ando back for Saturday
Good Result but more importantly a good performance last night, that is what we have been doing for the first 25 odd games. now we have to build on it, Mick need to realise that sometimes its better defensively to be going forward.
Spanish-Ambrose drifted in and out of the game,I think Bishop is wasted out wide but he tends to get muscled out a bit when played centrally against more physical sides.
Cheers bigal, could Bru play out wide i wonder, not sure he has much pace tho. Think wide right is a problem area, actually thr right side in general!!
As i said, we are weak on right side, so you have to find an alternative but i wouldnt want to move Bish out wide as i think he is our most creative cm!! Ideally we would bring a winger in but hey, you think we dont need anyone else!!
Feel free to have your own opinions Spanish ...I'm happy to have mine.......every team can find a position that they could improve upon ...given enough cash every position in most teams can be improved....what I've said is that I don't really like the current trend of solving every problem with the cheque book and I'm glad Ipswich are trying to coach more than wheel and deal....that's just my opinion...............I would rather that one of our U21s was coached and then brought in when he is ready.....again that's just my opinion if we get a loan player in I won't sulk moan and cry I will cheer him like I do the rest of the team.
think I must have been at a different game last night than some of the comments on this thread suggest. The first half was an abysmal performance. Pointless hoofing, no attacking intent, midfield losing it on the half way line and causing serious problems. SW players being allowed to run the whole length of the pitch and if it wasn't for some poor penalty box play from them we could have been 3 down at the break. Having said that the second half was the total opposite. A bit more pace, eager to close down the opposition and looking to push forward with intent. I honestly don't understand how the same set of players can put in such different performances. There was just so much more energy second half. Skuse was probably the epitome of the change. I know he is a divisive figure anyway but first half he was all backwards and sideways and not breaking up any opposition play. The second half he was always available and his passing was more forward thinking. I have been calling for Ambrose to come into the team but he certainly didn't do anything to justify a long run in the team. Never going to moan about 3 points but personally it had flourishes of showing we have got past our average start to the year but it was definitely not up to the standard of performances we have shown we are capable off.
Perhaps TB others were just so pleased to see new faces, new tactics, players we have been asking for to start.....and they took a while to bed down! It sounded a much improved performance and Millsy was well pleased. And hey, we get into the winning habit again! Same again at Craven Cott please!
