interesting. i see you write this quite a lot about young managers. what exactly do you think they should have achieved if they are young? if you've ever watched mk dons they are a feisty yet attractive, attacking football side, built with small resources. i'd suggest he'd be a perfect fit for ipswich and would give you a strategic and forward thinking plan for the next four or five years. same would apply to tisdale although his teams aren't as feisty as robinsons, they are the best footballing side i've seen outside the top two divisions. these are the kind of guys who would absolutely LOVE the chance to make the jump up and prove themselves at a bigger club. as i say, ipswich keep making the same mistakes over and over and they will again if they go for one of the dinosaurs.

We appointed an up and coming young manager when we were in a far bigger predicament than you are now. Look at us now!

I look forward to seeing Ipswich appoint an old timer that plays football that was effective 5 years ago.<ok>

I've suggested Robinson more than once on the Binners' board Supers, but for some reason they seem to think that a big name dinosaur would be better for them. Come to think of it, on second thoughts, so do I ! <laugh>

i'm all for them putting yet another nail in their coffin. amazes me that some fans still think that the 'oldies' can do the business (no offence dave ;))

i'm sure mick mccarthy could keep ipswich up but they would no doubt be looking for yet another new manager this time next year when they make their usual stuttering start. they need a long term plan. i don't even think they have a plan at all.

Robinson is only achieving marginal success due to Mick Harford <ok> Crawley turned them over the other night so should we go for Richie Barker?

And McCarthy only achieved moderate success because of Terry Connor..... Oh.

Whoever you appoint Warky there will be no guaratees that he will be able to turn things around, you lot are in a real bad place at the moment make no mistake. Those 8 or 9 loan players you have on the books right now are hardly going to bust a gut for you, us Budgies know this from bitter experience. The thing is, as you well know, the new man won't be able to bring in any fresh faces until January and that's when prices are overly inflated. I bet you'd bite someone's hand off for fourth bottom on goal difference at the end of the season right now, yeah <ok>

are you serious? you are basing your judgement on one or two results? are you unable to see the bigger picture?

by appointing jewell mkII, you are making all the same mistakes as you were before, just with a different manager at the helm! i'd say mccarthy's track record is better than jewell's but you're going over old ground again. hardly a fresh, new outlook is it. everything ipswich seem to do these days focuses on the short term. that's where they keep going wrong.

I would like to see George Burley come back with Tarrico as assistant with the view to him taking over the reigns in a couple of seasons. That way we get continuity and we get the experience we need in this dire situation. Burley would change the whole ethos of the club and give everyone the instant morale boost we desperately need. A return to the attractive attacking football that we are used to and so sadly missed over the last few years. His belief in advancing youth and his keen eye for a bargain in the transfer market are things that we so badly lack.

McCarthy would be a 2 season manager I admit but we have got to get someone who will give us the most likely chance of staying up this season.

I think the general feeling at Portaloo Rd is that they have to think short term (i.e. they don't think they'd be able to bounce back from relegation). Therefore the best option is to go for experience, old school, been there done that type manager with the best chance of helping them avoid the drop. A young up and coming type would be better long term but too risky short term.
For all their history, they just don't have 20,000+ who will come to every home game (rain or shine) irrespective of the league they play in. This is the big difference between Ipswich and Norwich. NCFC have the passionate fan base which will stick with their team through good times and bad. We're 'kin brilliant.

I think you would struggle to name many other clubs in our league who regularly have 17,000 turn up to watch a struggling team. We still take over 1000 away to most away games to watch the ****e football we are being served up. George Burley would put the fire and passion back into the club and we would start to get 20,000+ once he turns it around! <ok>

Butcher's latest odds are 16/1 with Skybet compared to Shearer's 6/1 and Mowbray 12/1 (both ladbrokes) Curbs is 5/2, McCarthy 3/1 and Megson 20/1 Ex-City Manager Nigel Worthington is 25/1 along with Alex Mcleish & George Burley

oh dear. you lot really are stuck in the past.

appointing former managers. when has that worked before?

he was a good, no great manager 15 years ago. appoint him now and i think you'll see his reputation tarnished with you.

Warky, I can only think of ONE manager who went back to his previous employers and achieved any form of success and that is Howard Kendall when he returned to Everton way back in the eighties. Name me another, it just doesn't work. Besides, you've changed your tune mate I thought you were adamant that Mick McCarthy was the only man who could save you !!

if you go down, i doubt you'll get 10k most home games, unless you go on a really good run. you've not been getting 17k this season - its even dropped below 16k once. i agree you all need a boost but do you really think going back to the past is the best way to go forwards? your away support isn't bad but its at home where your destiny will be decided - you need to win your home games.

err, i did read it! i don't know why you assume i didn't from my post. i don't care what you think either, but i do find it funny that you believe this would be the best way forward for your club. i think you'll struggle to find too many outside ipswich who think going back to george burley would make sense. just being honest.
